Well, I don't think we can call it the pinnacle of intellectual discussions.

However, it seems to have covered the entire gamut accurately yet amazingly succinctly.

Indeed, a young lady asked Carson if he thought she chose to be gay. What happened next pretty much seems to sum up the right wing, anti gay, folks opt to be gay argument. When confronted with reality, they opt not to answer, and this young lady summarizes Carson's thoughts and position on the matter incredibly accurately, in my esteemed opinion.

As Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson shook hands after a New York town hall meeting Monday night, one attendee among a small crowd asked, "Do you think I chose to be gay?" and cursed at the neurosurgeon after his response.

"I have a quick question," said the attendee, who was wearing a tee shirt of a nearby LGBT community center while the candidate walked down a rope line and greeted supporters. "Do you think I chose to be gay?"

"Did you choose to be gay?" Carson responded.

"Yes, do you think I chose to be gay?" the attendee asked again.

"That’s a long conversation," Carson said and repeated as he posed for a photograph with a supporter.

"I think you’re full of s---," his questioner responded, smiling, before walking away.

"OK," was Carson's only response as he continued to pose for pictures.

Last March, Carson was criticized for saying in an interview with CNN that being gay is a choice, for which he quickly apologized. He also took heat in November last year for saying transgender people should have separate bathrooms because they "make everybody else uncomfortabl

I think it would be more important if Carson had a chance of winning.

    Accessorizing around a birth trait?

Yeah, that doesn't help with "I didnt choose this" lifestyle.

There is a point in that.

If he thought about it he could have said "I chose not the answer that question at this time" and left the activist dumbfounded searching for something quick hitting talking point to try to get him on.

Carson was right; it would have been a long conversation. I think it's both; some are born gay, and some choose. Atm, I don't see any useful reason to try and determine which applies to any given individual. Maybe some benefit to genetic science or something but that's about it.

What a dumb question, and a appropriate response. There is research that has to be done, on whether being gay is a form of psychological problems or genetic ones.

Would you feel the same way if she had MS or Down's Syndrome and was wearing a shirt for a place that's involved with something like that? Or is it just gay folks that can't wear a piece of clothing that references who they are and what they support?

Carson should have said "Are you being forced.to live the gay lifestyle?"

So "gay" is a disability now?

Firstly, It wasnt anyone with Downs or MS....it was, as always, just a noisy gay trying to let everyone else know their choices and trying to agitate.

Gays are theonly sexual group who seem to think they are a product which needs to be advertised. Flags...bumper Stickers...etc etc. It seems a big show for them, and it really doesnt help with their claim of not choosing it.

By the way, since you tried to bring it up.... what is the Downs Syndrome Flag? Their Bumper Sticker?

Ben Carson response was crude and inappropriate being a candidate for the Presidency. If person feels comfortable in their life style that is their choice and no one else business. Only God will judge all of us no one is without sin.

The republican party won't be taken seriously until they unshackle themselves from the religious crazies that have high jacked their party. Also, not even republicans took ben carson seriously outside of the few weeks where it looked like he was awake.

Equally not shocking is that when actually confronted by a gay person, bigots cower like sissies.

Exactly. Serial Killers have traits that could be claimed as "genetic" but that does not excuse their actions.

Whether being gay is genetic or not, attraction is not a choice.

I see it the same as I do the Clinton heckler issue. It is a fair question, though maybe not the right context to have it addressed. He should have at least attempted to answer the question IMO.

Here's an idea that would solve the problem for both sides: politicians should keep their nose out of the issue.

But having sex with someone is. I can be attracted to anyone. But am I going sleep with them. So having gay sex is a choice. Having straight sex is a choice.

With the whole I'm born this way arguement, what they are saying is pedophiles should be legally able to have sex with children because they were born that way to be attracted to children. Where do you draw the line on what you are born to be?

That's what happens when a nation forces them in the closet for decades. Every action has a equal but opposite reaction.

Children cannot give informed consent. You seriously can't tell the difference between two adults having consensual sex and someone raping a child?

is that really an accurate comparison?

We as a society have determined that children are not capable of giving consent. It is a long way from a private act between consenting adults and raping a child.

No, his lack of answering said it all. When actually confronted by a real person, he suddenly has no opinion.
