Oh Boy oh Boy Mommy ... a real storm storm.A doozie.
Gee Mommy I can't wait. That means No school and all the
cookies in the cupboard and ice cream ta boot.
Not so fast Timmy. This years Mother Nature is smarter than last.
This " doozie " as you call it won't strike till way after school closes on
Friday. And is expected to last around 36 hrs.Plenty of time for this
Government to stay open, even though Government does shut down
    every weekend.
Oh Boy oh Boy Mommy.Does that mean Mr.Obama will go on TV and
dare anyone to just try and stay home instead of going to their place of
work to make the case This Government is at their beck & call,no matter
    the weekend.
Timmy where did you learn to talk like dat.?
I never heard you so eloquent before.
I done learnt it at school mommy.
This fellar from the John Birch Society visited out class Tuesday and
Miss Crabtree said ... don't mind his threadbare clothes,he has something
    Important to say.
So I done listened Mommy. He said watch out for this Mother Nature.
She works for the Gov'mint and can't be trusted. She has a nice pension
plan and manages to go the hairdresser weekly even during working hrs.
Okey Dokey Timmy. Now get my purse cause I have to go to the hairdresser
    before the storm hits.
But Mommy ... Do me a favor
    What Timmy.
If'n you see Donald Trump at the Hairdresser ask him what gives with this
    years Mother Nature.
Ok Timmy.I'll make sure to ask him.

The forecasts are still all over the chart. We could get 1 to 20 inches which may be snow, may be ice, may be freezing rain, may be all of the above depending on the hour and whose forecast you are watching. Our schools are already closed today and tomorrow as we had snow yesterday still on the ground and highs have been below freezing for several days, though it might be a balmy 38 today *fingers crossed*.

Ice is the only word in a forecast that bothers me. Snow is manageable. Ice is like feeding a gremlin after midnight.

No question at all.Ice Storms are about the worst thing.Even a Blizzard is
more manageable.I sat out a blizzard in the 80's. It was a remarkable thing to
    witness.

If your power grid is going to go out, make sure you prepare by buying a bunch of DVD's and frozen dinners.

They're saying if it (the storm) tracks ten miles higher from where I am, I get clobbered; if it's ten miles lower, nothing but a dusting.

Not taking chances.....I've got the car at the end of the driveway (less shoveling), and enough chips and granola bars to gag a mule.

Right now I'm not about to tempt fate.
I went thru an Ice Storm in 2009.It was regarded as The Worst natural disaster
in my states History.Every National Guard member in the state { 4,600 } was
    called into service.55 people died.
I remember staying awake right before the power went out hearing Tree limbs
all around my neighborhood break off and crash to the ground. It was surreal.
    Like Dinosaurs where traipsing around.

    tomorrow, they may get 24.

    all I can say is:

    ha.....ha.....ha.

you know how you know you're in New York City during a snowstorm?

    don't remind me please.

it was so bad that the motorcade for the President was sliding because they didn't treat the roads for a dusting of snow.

We are 4 inches deep only a few hours into this thing and it is supposed to last until Saturday, so I am guessing the storm shifted some as we were not supposed to get but 6 and some ice....

I miss the snow, living in California for 4 years has its benefits, but also has its down sides....this being one of them. Enjoy your days off :alcoholic::weed:

looks like the forum will be missing the privilege of my posts for the next week, blizzard is expected to knock out power widespread for awhile with downed trees, heavy ice, etc...

times like this i wish i followed the survivalist movement, would have had months of food stocked away and generators on stand by.

I have the luxury of sitting in the 'bullseye' so expecting at most 3 feet, or if I'm lucky at least 2 feet.

Yea, when I was a kid I used to build igloos out of snow banks...

20 inches of snow doesn't seem like a lot but when you throw it off to the side it builds up pretty quick....

    - - - Updated - - -

That's how you get it done... Worth every dollar...

Well that's how I do it but in populated areas it gets difficult...

When it snows 2 inches an hour the trucks cant get all the roads and you basically get snowed in... The back roads don't get plowed until there is a foot on the ground... Lucky I have a store about 150 yards from my pad so, but that doesn't help much here where I'm at in Northern Illinois because the sidewalks are full of snow too....

You ever walk in snow that is knee deep that feels like concrete for 150 yards during a blizzard?

HA.... Here in Illinois it seems we only get wet soggy snow that turns to ice....

I only wish we got the fluffy snow that weighs less than cotton balls....

No we get hail with our snow... (*)(*)(*)(*)ing ice falling out of the sky.... Not only that but "thunder snow"..... We had that last week...
