Whispers continue of real legitimate and near-debilitating fear within the Hillary Clinton campaign regarding having to face a bellicose and unafraid Donald Trump. You see, Democrats have long utilized to great effect the clarion calls of racism, sexism, and class division. They did so for the simple reason it worked time and time again, and that working was due in great part to Republican politicians who would tremble at the thought of facing such allegations.

Remember Mitt Romney, who at this time in 2012 was being foisted upon Republican voters as the only candidate who could defeat Barack Obama? And remember too how quickly Romney’s momentum dissipated after just a handful of stories regarding his views on women, the poor, etc? He simply stopped fighting and then predictably, lost in an almost-landslide to a hapless Barack Obama. Contrast that with this response by Donald Trump when confronted just yesterday by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer regarding allegations that Trump started the “Birther” movement against Barack Obama:

This is unlike any Republican candidate in recent memory when faced with an issue meant to embarrass and then silence them. Donald Trump shrugs off the allegation, reminds viewers (correctly by the way) that it was the Clinton 2008 campaign that initiated the questions on a national level regarding Barack Obama’s past, including the status of his citizenship, and then he smoothly pivots the discussion to a far more important issue – the still ongoing FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private server scandal.

When Wolf Blitzer tries for a second time to trip Trump up on the Birther issue by saying Hillary Clinton will raise the issue against him, he simply says he will raise it against her, thus sending Team Clinton a message that if they choose to make that an issue, it will be Hillary Clinton who will be left trying to explain it and not him. Trump even goes on to dismiss the question in its entirety, a dismissal that is as much about Barack Obama as anything, as if to say, “if it’s about Obama who cares at this point? He’s on his way out and I’m on my way in.” You know that kind of dismissal leaves the thin-skinned Obama seething. You also know that Trump is all too aware of that fact
. It is this particular quality about Donald Trump that most infuriates the Mainstream Media – he doesn’t fear them, and often is able to have them be the ones to appear foolish and petty. More politicians would do well to learn from Mr. Trump’s example.

So can Donald Trump defeat Hillary Clinton? Absolutely. In fact, he has the potential to do so in a landslide. He could also finally self-destruct as well, and find himself routed by the Clinton Machine. The more important question is if Donald Trump will make a good (or even great) President of the United States? For me that basis of greatness is based upon two fundamental responsibilities of an American president: One, national security and two, economic opportunity. On these two points, Donald Trump represents the greatest potential of any of the 2016 GOP candidates – as well as the greatest risk. Primary voters made clear they were willing to take that risk
and I cannot help but be excited to see how it all plays out. Should Trump defeat Hillary Clinton the subsequent four years could prove to be an affirmation of America’s greatness, or confirmation of its continued decline.

D.W. Ulsterman On What A Trump GOP Nomination Means For America

I supported both Cruz and Trump. I was going to vote for Cruz up until two days before the NC primary on March 15th. But then I started asking myself "do we lose win with Trump or lose with Cruz?" I came to the conclusion Cruz didn't have the wide appeal needed; that he couldn't sell himself - in fact he became unlikable and looked underhanded. He could't draw in independents, crossover dems, disaffected union workers, exhausted and beat down blue collar people, we housewives who manage the money and pay the bills; we know just how bad 8 years of obama has been. The average man and woman doesn't grasp the purity and righteousness of the constitutionalist ethic. I myself am a constitutionalist. This country isn't informed in large enough numbers to value it. It just isn't. Cruz would lose. Unless the dems can manage to cheat the election by a large amount, he will win. We may all be surprised and see him win in a landslide.

We needed a tough smart street fighter to defeat the gutter-dirty conniving Clinton machine. We have one. This is the chance we need. Yes, I'm saying this: let's not blow it; if we let this opportunity pass, if we don't take it and run with it, I do believe we will regret it forever. This may in fact be a turning point in history; two roads - one to opportunity or one to an inevitable totalitarian govt and utter ruin.

Trump is not a savior, he's not a panacea, but he's a golden opportunity. Please, let's not fail to realize it. Let's stop defeating ourselves.

I came to the same conclusion. Trump is damn good, and even those who oppose his politics have to admit what he's done and is doing is masterful. I don't think anyone could have predicted this a year ago. Cruz was a disappointment to me.

Trump is bringing in democrats and independents. The GOPe is slowly coming around.

Hillary is still engaged in a primary battle, and has major liabilities hanging over her head.

All the while-Trump is learning, getting polished, and refining his message.

I've never seen the political landscape the way it is-and thats a good thing.

    Trump 2016!

    Ulsterman!

God I have missed that guy. Remember the "White House Indiser" that sent him so much information? Liek the threat of the scandal that was going to take down the Obama presidency? The one that never happened?

Important to note that the source of this "opinion" piece has made many, many outrageous claims and predictions that never happened> iot seems to be a blog written by a right wing hack that simply makes stuff up and posts it.

    Hand it to Trump....

he's turned "Reagan conservatives" against their own decades-old Ideology, to support and defend him.

you know im nationalist but what reagan did at that time was fundamentally right. We had no real competition so why not go free trade and exploit the hell out of the rest of the world BUT! when the rest of the world caught up as it has around the bush - obama times why would we continue? Especially when the US is the most valuable market on earth.

How did Reagan's "decades-old Ideology" differ from FDR's? Or is that what you meant. ;-)

    D. is open to raising the minimum wage

    E. is unconcerned with deficits and debt.

    F. is fine with Russia exercising military operations in the Middle East

None of those issues are of critical importance. The voting public knows that.

Most "Reagan conservatives" know that Reagan eventually raised taxes.
Most "Reagan conservatives" know that much of the wealthy class are now progressive crony capitalists.
Most "Reagan conservatives" know that the debate over debt reductions and balanced budgets has always been phony political shuck and jive.
Most "Reagan conservatives" know that minimum wage hikes only hurt the DP base.
Most "Reagan conservatives" like Trump because the RPe/DPe political class hate Trump. The same reason they supported Reagan in spite of his praise for FDR and the New Deal.

There is a lot of Reagan in Trump.

Beyond that Trump is drawing support from every sector of the voting public not just "Reagan conservatives". Hell, Kasich, Bush, Graham et al. call themselves "Reagan conservatives".

This is the support base for Donald Trump: “Record High in U.S. Say Big Government Greatest Threat, Now 72% say it is greater threat than big business or big labor”, by Jeffrey M. Jones, Gallup, 12/18/13.
    http://www.gallup.com/poll/166535/r...syndication&utm_content=morelink&utm_term=All

72% of Americans are not "Reagan conservatives", but they are all potential Trump voters - if he addresses there real concerns.

LOL! If it was all BS the RPe/DPe political class would not be throwing a fit over Trump.

The hyperventilating bipartisan ruling political elites have greatly enhanced the credibility of Trump - and Sanders.

Should we call it the Wasserman/Priebus strategy? ;-)

While I don't think that Hillary Clinton is a particular strong performer in regards to debates, I don't think she is a slouch either.

On the other side, I think Trump's egomaniacal need to say anything that will garner him momentary kudos combined with his reckless disregard for the truth, accuracy, or consistency will provide the forum with so incredibly much entertainment it is unreal.

Hillary limits public, press access — to avoid more embarrassing confrontations?

In an apparent attempt to control who is able to talk to the candidate — and reduce the possibility of embarrassing moments — the Hillary Clinton campaign is severely restricting the crowd size at a Virginia event today. Not only that, but the campaign is hampering media coverage by allowing a “pool” reporter only. Clinton is scheduled to appear at the Mug-N-Muffin in Stone Ridge, Virginia at 2 pm. At the event, she reportedly will be talking with “young families about the struggles they face with affordable child care, paid family leave and health care,” according to a description of the event. The general public is not invited — and neither is the media.

“Due to space constraints at this venue, this event will be invitation only and pooled for press,” according to the event description. She’s likely trying to avoid confrontations with angry coal miners or upset Latino students. A coal worker who is now out of a job confronted Hillary Clinton with a picture of his family last week — and he was met with an icy response.

“The reason you hear those people (protesters) out there saying some of the things that they say is because when you make comments like ‘we’re going to put a lot of coal miners out of jobs,’ this is the kind of people you’re affecting. “This is my family,” the man said, reaching across the table to put a picture of his family in front of Clinton. “My hope is in God,” the man said, choking back tears. “That’s my future,” he said, pointing to the picture. “I want my family to know that they have a future in this state.” Clinton, offering little compassion for the man in emotional pain, claimed her remark, below, was “taken out of context.” Later in the week, Clinton was confronted by a man holding a banner along the rope line at a Los Angeles rally. While much of what he was yelling was unintelligible, he could be heard calling her a “murderer.”

Her events are being tightly controlled. She's a weak candidate with a lot of baggage. Finally, her corruption and callous treatment of people is catching up to her. Trump will capitalize on this and rightfully he should.

I agree 100-percent. And we can't let her win so she can pardon herself from her crimes. It's truly despicable that dems are allowing her to run when there is even a question regarding her server and email actions. At minimum, Hillary thinks she is entitled to get away with it.

Well, stealing the furniture from the White House pretty much tells you all you need to know about her moral character.
