My girlfriends Canon MP280 pauses for about five seconds after every pass of a print job on her Windows 10 computer. It takes for freaking ever to print a common document. Anybody have any clues? I've researched it online, but no luck. The ink is new, seated properly. Latest drivers installed. Correct paper type. Proper port selected (USB). latest updates to the OS.
When I made the dire mistake of going to Win 10 for my back-up PC (well it seemed like a good idea at the time!), I found it impossible to control the cursor/pointer with the track pad. All I got from the forums was 'Wait for an MS update - it's bound to be a priority.' So I waited . . . and I waited . . . and I waited: that was 6 months ago, and still no fix for it. Thankfully, because I like to fire it up on a regular basis ready for action and the PC was effectively useless, by the purest chance I found that the cursor could be controlled with the wireless mouse from this main PC. Bought a wireless mouse for a fiver from Amazon (how do these manufacturers do it so cheaply?) and all's well that ends well.
Good story. I prefer using a mouse when using our laptop.Yes, the prices are more amazing by the year. Compared to fifteen years ago, you can get ten times the computer for one fourth the cost.
I strongly recommend the following. Install a Linux Mint image on a thumbdrive (it's completely free). You can run it "live" without changing your system. Set up your printer and see if it runs properly. If you are satisfied, go ahead and install Linux Mint on your hard drive. It's superior in every way to Windows 10.
The cheap little tablets are free compared to one of the first desk top computers I purchased, Windows 98........
Why didn't I think of that. (bonks self in head) Maybe even a dual boot. Thanks. I'll put that on the list.
Windows has been unusually glitchy the last few OS--everything since XP really. I picked up a glitch from an update in which I could not print once I had been on the internet until I rebooted the computer. It started after an update installation and stopped once I went back to a snapshot taken before the update after all the usual suspects were tried with updating reinstalling drivers and such. No effing idea why. I went to 10 and then back to 8.1. I have recently developed all sorts of pointer issues, meaning, my mouse has a mind of its own. I bought a new mouse, but same problem. Have trouble highlighting text and the like randomly. All I could find on the web about it is that it is just an annoying problem with 8.1 on some computers.
Have you gone to Setting and then checked out Devices? Then click on Printers and it will give you some idea where you're at.
Yep, did all that, but no joy. So we solved it the old fashioned way. We bought a new printer for her, and moved her old one to my desk which for some unknown reason is now working fine on both my windows 10 and windows 7 partitions.
