Ar15 does not equal M16. One is semi automatic, the other is select fire. The ar 15 has been civilian available since 1963. The self loading rifle first came out in 1905, was chambered in .35 and intended for hunting bears according to the catalog. You're literally trying to ban century old tech. You're never going to get genie back in the bottle. Let it go.

I'll also note that the 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting.

I'll further note that ar 15's are the weapon of choice for hunting feral pigs.

All arguments for reinstating the AW ban are fallacious appeals to emotion, ignorance or dishonesty

Your "semi- auto" AR can be fired as fast as you can twitch your finder. I've seen rates between 300 and 400 rounds per minute

    Your point?

It's there to protect the people from the goverenment, it doesn't matter if it's "not for hunting". That's an ignorant argument based in delusion.

Sorry friend, you and the rest of your ilk that are terrified of inanimate objects are going to have to get over it.

In other words, it fires exactly as fast as a revolver - maybe a bit slower.

No, an ar can be fired as fast as the semi automatic action can be reset by the blowback of the round being expended to move the parts, and then you can squeeze the trigger and start the process over (it takes a lot more than a twitch). 300 a minute? Yeah if you're the world's fastest shooter and you're not really aiming and you don't have to reload.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REdjjLBaiOs

It is irrelevant what the designer intended it for and the family is just making up crap anyway. He designed it TO MAKE MONEY OFF IT. The "family" is just angry that the patent expired and they DON'T GET ANY MONEY OFF THEM. Nothing else.

Obviously you've never fired a semi-auto firearm. Please show me how somebody can fire 300 rounds a minute (with magazine changes).

An AR definitely has a faster rate of fire than a revolver - that's just physics.

"As fast as you can pull the trigger".

Of course, on some revolvers you can hold the trigger and fan the hammer, which is usually faster than you can pull the trigger.

Have you ever fired one? Do you know what happens when you try to do that?

He said it was 700. And Alan Grayson is certifiable.

How well can a 5.56 rifle protect you from tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, attack helicopters, and drones?

    M4 ROF is ~750rpm, cyclic.
The AR15 fires just as fast?

You fail to take into account, the operators of those need to have the will to use them against their own countrymen.

well, duh. I guess it was only for terrorists & soldiers, then.. no regular citizens can use these kinds of weapons, since they weren't invented for them.

And those in the picture are actual military weapons - "weapons of war". No country in the world issues its soldiers AR-15's as they are not capable of fully automatic fire. Although the top one appears to be an M4 carbine (because of the barrel length), not an M16.

Here is a very common rifle that is owned by hundreds of thousands of civilians and has been made since the 1970's. It is functionally no different than an AR-15. But to the anti-gun weenies, it is less scary.

I have an M1 Garand and an M1903A3 Springfield.
Both -are- military grade weapons of war and were used as such.
I wonder why no one whines about those?
