A self evident truth needs no "proof". The sun rises over the eastern horizon. I don't need a scientific study to prove that it does. Someone born male is a male. Someone born female is a female. Self evident truth that a person who is born male who thinks he is a female is looney tunes. What is, is. What is not is not. - Permenidaes.
Obviously its abnormal being that they are only a fraction of a percent of the population. That being said unlike other conditions like bipolar, schizophrenia etc. there is no impediment to function so if they want to go through the process there is no logical reason to oppose it so long as they pay for the costs themselves.
Of course those are proven. What a ridiculous question. We're talking about people lying about their gender.
I don't understand the poll options so I will simply state my opinion. I do not believe that being transgendered is a mental illness.
I don't know enough about it to say for sure. I know there is a biological basis for it...that's as far as my opinion goes so far. The twisted sensationalism/attention seeking vibe surrounding the whole issue is what's sick.
No there is no biological basis for it. A genetic basis for LGBT is the "holy grail" of that movement, they have dumped a fortune into finding one to no avail - if they could show it was an inherent trait like skin color they would plaster that finding all over the world in every media outlet in existence.
I think it is an illness and I don't believe gender reassignment surgery should be allowed. People who believe they were born as the wrong gender need treatment to be comfortable with their actual gender and not their perceived gender.
I think the media sensation with it all is sick. Labeling people as phobic or bigoted gets heaped on people to often. I mean come on, lol "Gender reassignment" is some freaky stuff....sounds like a bad sci fi movie Id turn off. I almost hurled when Bruce Jenner was given that "woman of the year award". Educating young kids about gender issues is wrong also. ( including something about it in sex ed middle school sounds reasonable) Still, I wont immediately write someone off as mental just because I don't know that much about it. The medical community learns new things everyday.
