For all the dopers that present legalization as an unalloyed good, here is at least one concrete counter: There are plenty of negative externalities to legal dope that are swept under the rug by the pro pot sofa surfers. For any that wish to engage, you will only get a response if you take up this question with a direct answer: How many people (%) in America can smoke dope daily and allow the country to continue with its current level of economic activity?
gun madness hit American toddlers.. shoudl we ban guns too common sense folks, make it a crime to give guns and drugs to kids.. don't outlaw them don't forget how many car accidents harm kids, maybe we should go to mass transit, ban cars .
He probably genuinely feels that kids dying from firearms in their homes is acceptable compared to kids going to the hospital for a substance that can't kill. What can I say? Americans
Legalization of dope increased economic activity. Dope increases productivity in certain areas, mostly artistic. The US will be sending a man to Mars whetter dope is legal or not.
Well, to be fair you cant overdose on pot.. Why the hell would a parent bring their kid to the ER for eating their bud brownies? There is nothing the ER can really do about it.
ironically without Marijuana I doubt Einstein ever would of looked in the mirror and asked himself if he would see his reflection if going the speed of light .
Please explain how marijuana is any different than alcohol? BTW I know several who do daily and they are quite productive.
It is very different. How many kids do actually die from alcohol poisoning in their homes? https://www.niaaa.nih.gov/alcohol-h...ions-co-occurring-disorders/underage-drinking
The counter isn't particularly valid. Here is a substance that kids shouldn't be able to get a hold of, but do. Much like alcohol. There are rules in play that are being broken, but this is nothing new. We need to apply the same rules and thinking to all the category of substances. If kids are getting this stuff, penalties need to be enforced on those supplying it. CPS would be involved if 10 year old kids got drunk under mom's watch; we wouldn't have a discussion on prohibition. What worries me more is the amount of sugar kids eat each day, which will give them a buzz and is perfectly legal.
If you think this is bad, just wait until the left gets their way and they legalize cocaine, heroin, meth and crack. Because they know making those legal and U.S. Tax payers funding dopers habits is a great thing for the country lol.
I'm talking about adult use. ANYTHING can be misused and neither marijuana or alcohol is intended for under-age users. - - - Updated - - - funny that legalizing marijuana has actually HELPED the economies where it is legal. Why are you against freedom, why do you hate it so much?
Yes... But kids and adults DIE from alcohol and guns. Not marijuana. I don't think you should compare them.
Yes it is valid to compare them as recreational drugs. Yes it is valid to compare their use to each other in the sense that neither one makes somebody less productive with moderate use. Yes it is valid to compare them that they are both mind altering. Yes it is valid to compare them that they both are for adult use only. Yes, it is valid to compare them that both (when abused) cause harm. I wouldn't want somebody driving a car stoned out of their mind just like I wouldn't want someone driving a car drunk off their ass. You are using ONE aspect and trying to then use that as the absolute. Sorry your example is just one aspect of both. It is in fact valid to compare them.
It doesn't seem to have had any detrimental economic effects on the individuals I've known who use it, which includes a lot of senior level software developers and UX designers making six figures.
Yes... And I think it is quite a distinction. You die from the other things. I wouldn't even compare alcohol and marijuana for recreational use. I have worked, studied, taken exams and played sports high. You can't do that with alcohol. It damn near impossible to do anything useful with alcohol in the blood. Driving while high is no way as dangerous as driving drunk. Simply not a valid comparison. Alcohol compared to marijuana is infinitely worse.
Again I've heard the same thing from people who drink that say they can drive drunk, work drunk, and have even studied and taken exams drunk as well. Even if what you or they say is true, that is not the norm. Yes, both can be compared and just because you can't die from one doesn't mean that you can't compare them. Anyways, I'm done getting in the weeds and you seem to want to argue for argument sake. I have better things to do than argue about whether or not alcohol and weed can be compared or not.
Some people can work under the influence of quite a lot of alcohol. Still doesn't change the fact that health wise, productivity wise and just in general marijuana is much less of a danger than alcohol. I can't believe you are arguing against that. You really think alcohol is not worse marijuana? http://www.cbsnews.com/news/which-is-worse-booze-or-pot-a-doctor-weighs-in/ You can find loads of similar articles. Marijuana is not as dangerous as alcohol. Punto.
No... You are the one trying to boil it down to one aspect "recreational use". Alcohol is worse when it comes to domestic abuse, violence between people, kids seriously hurting themselves, diseases and so on. Whether recreationally or abusively. On all aspects alcohol is worse. You fail.
As long as you stop making unsubstantiated claims about marijuana being as dangerous as alcohol i'm happy. Now move along.
