I just couldn't take it anymore haha! The ignorance, the hash tags, etc. It made me feel worse when my free time should make me feel better, so after 7 years I trashed it.
facebook is just a stupid way to waste your time..if you want someone to know what is going on go and see them or call them...
It's a neverending always on family/high school/college reunion. It is nice to ask all your old crushes if they want to have sex now but other than that it's worthless.
You can't delete your account. You can only deactivate it. You'll be back as soon as your hear that somebody you know died.
That's right I deactivated it. One of my former best friends died last year and FB didn't make me feel better about it. It routinely made me feel worse.
I rarely participate on FB and don't follow the timeline. I keep it open so that I can keep in touch with people. I see no reason to deactivate it.
I go on facebook for the memes. I follow "Pop Smoke". Their military memes always have me laughing. Other than that, I don't use facebook for anything but information.
I think Facebook mainly becomes a problem for those who are constantly looking at the timeline. Facebook makes people more depressed when all they're doing is comparing themselves to their friends. Facebook is there to use the messenger service, follow funny (*)(*)(*)(*), and keep track of people you don't get to see on a regular basis. It's also a way to keep track of women you are planning on pursuing at some future date
Speaking of women on facebook. I was bored and looking up a girl I had a crush on maybe 15 years ago. Found her- we're not friends on facebook. I could still look at her pictures though. So before I know it I'm looking at pictures of her from 2007. Then the worst thing in the world happened. I accidentally "shared" her profile picture from 2007. I immediately deleted the shared picture, but the notification still goes to her. So I did what any sensible person does. I blocked her. lol
This story is hilarious! I can't recall doing anything too crazy on FB, but I'm sure I have at some point. I do, however, facebook stalk people from time to time. I will have to be careful about accidentally sharing or liking something.
I've actually complained to Facebook in their last feedback session and said that you shouldn't be able to "like" someone's photos if you aren't friends with them. I have like 10 girls on my block list because I accidentally "liked" a picture they had and I was so embarrassed I just blocked them.
I guess I don't understand the whole depression when comparing to friends. I like seeing my friends' pictures of vacation paradises. I like seeing what they are up to. - - - Updated - - - Well, be careful about what you like. Also, you can choose the exposure of your own photos. Mine, for example, can only be seen by my friends.
It depends on how well one's life is going. I've been happy to share posts and follow other people in the past; but when I'm down, the last thing I want to see is how happy everyone else is.
I don't link the two, and I never will. My Facebook page is my PC-friendly face to the world. On PF, I say what I believe.
it do not think it matters, install Facebook Disconnect in firefox and will see the connection even on this page, shows 2 connections being blocked https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/facebook-disconnect/ what those 2 connections are doing I do not know .
Sure, they are tracking people, but they aren't allowed to start linking my PF posts to my FB without permission. In other words, to my knowledge, Facebook is not going to start posting my threads on my Facebook page. If that happened, I would have a meltdown lol.
Good for you. I reconnected with a bunch of guys I served with who are spread all over the globe, so it's worth the hassle for me. About a year ago I deleted a bunch of people I had friended because I simply didn't care about them. My circle is now small and free of morons who post political rants or pictures of their food.
That doesn't bother me much, at least not yet. I'm already screwed if these companies start putting all of my dirt into the public sphere anyway, so it is too late for me to cover my tracks.
it's too late for almost everyone...... people always worried about the government tracking you.... but it's the corps .
Ugh, I know. My political beliefs, favorite hobbies, favorite porn, nude pics of myself and women, damning statements that would destroy 90% of my friends... We really need some privacy laws in this country.
I hardly mess with it anymore. I was on vacation and all the locals said:"Oh,you got to get on Facebook" A few years later ,I'm like screw Zuckerberg. He don't make my world go 'round in any kind of way whatsoever. I don't need to play Farmville. Only 7% of the posts you share actually get shared to your friends.
