Keep in mind - John Howard was a strong conservative and he enacted gun legislation here

All it would need is a couple of mass shootings and Trump may cave - and since it is a republican controlled government they may just follow him

    More fairy godmother wishful thinking

The Brady Bill was not Reagan, that was Clinton.

Reagan did sign a bill with the Hughes amendment, so there's that.

He's already flip-flopping on ACA; what else is he not going to do. One thing we can agree on is that he is your President, not mine. It's my country and I have an unfettered right to my opinion....at least until he and his administration gut the first amendment.

Btw I don't fly and haven't in the past 30+ years so no skin off of my back.

He came out for no fly no buy. Full stop. He's not one of us. He may make decisions we would support out of political expediency, but he does not understand or respect the constitution if he thinks no fly no buy is constitutional under any theory.

Criminals don't calculate. This isn't heat or ronin with deniro. Most criminals are dumb as a bag of hammers and don't think things through beyond the next thing they desire.

Most, however some of the Cartel guys like the Zeta's and ex Kaibiles actually know what they're doing and some of this training has filtered down to the gang banger level in terms of gun/drug crime.

Nonsense. Violent criminals are risk takers. All risk takers try to reduce their risk. Which is why more CCW reduces crime.

Many Criminals use Drugs, enough of them do, they also use an excessive amount of alcohol, heck, lots of people with concealed carry drink too much, are way too fat etc, why would you think Criminals are going to be paragons of virtue and great athletes ?

Lots of Criminals spend so much money on excess, they have very little left over to spend on Guns, and if they are stealing to support various habits and other Criminal activities, it is only a matter of time and Maths, probability and statistics, for them to be caught or shot by a legally carrying CCW or LEO.

How many criminals have you hung out with? How many times have you been in County?
Most have no conception of the risk because they haven't thought it through beyond I'm gonna do x and go get money to do y.
Risk doesn't enter into the equation for most of them.
You're projecting what you would do onto them, a bad idea since you're not a criminal.

Zetas were trained by the US military as the Mexican anti drug force. Most are ex military. They are not who we speak of when we talk about concealed carry because they mostly prey upon other drug dealers. They are the far outlier. Base level bangers in the crips, bloods, ab, brown pride etc are who were talking about. Those dumb(*)(*)(*)(*)s don't do a whole lot of thinking.

Typical right-wing Salem Witch Trial mentality. Falsely accuse a person of being a witch, then murder the "witch" to prove they're a witch, and then walk away feeling self-righteous.

"Paragons of virtue and great athletes"? That is not from my post. Violent criminals take calculated risks.
That is why they tend to choose Gun Free Zones and other soft targets where they are less likely to get shot. The nightmare scenario for a criminal is an encounter with a citizen with a concealed handgun. A uniformed LEO is a lesser risk.

The only violent criminals who do not have guns are the ones who do not really want them. Guns can be easily obtained everywhere in the world. Of course, a police state can convince criminals to choose not to arm themselves with guns.

Do you really think you have to do time in County to have contact with criminals? How naive. There are now many millions of ex-convicts throughout our society, Everyone has frequent contact with them. I have hired a number of convicted felons. IMO, former armed robbers make the best workers, and they usually have good leadership skills. You really should look for that "Armed Robber" checkoff in job applications. ;-)

The notion that criminals are unthinking human beings who routinely take thoughtless risks is not accurate. Google "crime pays" and tell us how many hits you get. ;-)

Note that I asked 2 separate questions smart guy. Now take the strawman down quixote.

You're dealing with the outliers who reformed themselves. Honestly how do you think they get caught?

Forgive me if I address the topic before addressing these statements.

The NRA and Republicans make the allegation that Hillary Clinton is anti-Second Amendment. I'm not a Clinton supporter, I'm not a Democrat but I am a gun owner and supporter of the Second Amendment and the allegation, like so many from Republicans, is false. As an example the NRA has claimed that Hillary Clinton opposed the Supreme Court decision in Heller v DC where the SCOTUS overturned a long-time ban on handguns in Washington DC because a person has a right to defend themselves in their home. Hillary Clinton never opposed that decision. She did express the concern that Heller could be used to address other situations, outside of the actual scope of the Heller Supreme Court Decision, to over-turn or prevent reasonable gun control measures and the Supreme Court also noted in Heller were Constitutionally acceptable.

    As for the above statements:

The unemployment rate is under 5% (4.9%) and for whites it 4.4%. Below 5% is typically assumed to be "transitional" unemployment. Where we do have a problem is with the black unemployment rate that's 8.5% so if we need more jobs then we need more jobs for blacks in America.

Trump touts "manufacturing jobs" and like other people unaware of manufacturing he falsely claims we've "exported" our manufacturing jobs. No Donald, we purchase products from other countries but don't "export" jobs. The manufacturing job loss in the United States is primarily due to automation. Jobs related to the manufacturing of durable and non-durable goods in the United States is less than 4% of all jobs. The primary employment in the United State is in the service sector that employs over 70% of Americans. The service sector is also known as the primary source "poverty level" compensation (due to low minimum wage laws) creating "working poverty" that requires government welfare assistance. While manufacturing jobs were typically high-paying jobs that's because they were historically union jobs but because of anti-union Republican policies since about 1970 that's no longer true. Many small manufacturing companies don't pay much more than the service sector these days.

Bottom line - We don't need more jobs what we really need is higher compensation for our existing jobs that are overwhelmingly in the service sector.

Donald Trump has proposed (and then re-proposed) a tax cut of somewhere between $6 trillion and $10 trillion. Of those dollars almost 50% (47%) will go into the pockets of the Top 1% and that takes the money out of the economy because investments don't produce or consume anything. The top 1% don't need more money and don't spend more money on consumption when they get more money. Only consumption purchases the goods and services that the GDP measures. Even taxation fuels the economy because the government uses the money to pay wages, purchase goods, and provide as welfare benefits to people that use all of the money they receive to spend purchasing goods. Money going to the Top 1% is basically taken out of the economy which is why the GDP growth rate sucks right now. We've funneled so much money to the super-wealthy that its hurting our economic growth. The rich keep getting richer but that only happens because the working Americans are getting poorer. It's called economic balance but don't tell any Republicans or Donald Trump because they'd never believe the truth anyway.

Donald Trump is the American President (elect) so he's our president. That doesn't mean he knows what he's doing or that he can't be highly harmful to the US economy, US foreign policy, US trade, or civil rights in America. We need to give him a chance but things aren't looking promising at the moment. He keeps saying he's going to do things that are either the wrong thing to do, things he can't do, or are just flat out unconstitutional.

For example he stated he's going to end gun free zones. Sorry but that would violate the 10th Amendment because gun free zones have been under the authority of state and local government since this nation was founded. He says he's going to make health insurance transportable between states. He can't do that because each state has authority over business operations within the state and the state can impose any regulations it wants on health insurance and they all have (which is why health insurance isn't "portable" today).

I didn't say that that most of them weren't stupid, but some of them are not. Plus some of them within their own environment and manual of arms are quite skilled. A good many of them have survived multiple gun fights. Some cities, like B-more carry a higher mortality per shooting than many/most PD.s with the CHuM working at 50%. Zeta's, Kaibiles and even some renegade IDF guys have provided support to the end customers, namely the bangers.

Being a good shot or knowing to get behind cover when being shot at aren't indications of great amounts of forethought taken before the crime occurs. They are indications of knowing how to shoot and knowing that you can be shot when being shot at.
Zetas being outliers, I wasn't talking about them when I was mentioning the average criminal.

There's no doubt that low IQ, poor impulse control and a total lack of future time orientation are the hallmark of the average banger. Here's what's happening in the hood. Better weapons, better ammo, better tactics and a manual of arms designed especially for the hood. Almost all of current pistol instructors have never ever been in a pistol fight. There are bangers who have been in dozens and know what works "for them" within their culture/society. Plus, they're now teaching what they learned from others as well as the hard lessons of the hood. You can't equate them with the world in which most of the rest of live. B-more is a case in point. They know where they cameras are. They don't just like high capacity mags they use extended mags. For them it's about speed, closing the distance and firepower AND leaving no witnesses behind. It's an interesting study.

Hillary Clinton stated outright that the united states supreme court made the wrong ruling in the Heller decision.

Federal law dictated that states must classify schools as being locations where firearms cannot legally be possessed.

In violation of the Second Amendment and the intent of the Founding Fathers as far as the Right to keep and bear Arms, and the ability of Law Abiding Citizens to protect themselves against tyranny.
