Oh yes, Obama and many liberals in Washington say they care for our nations Police, and this is what we get.

Why would Obama let this happen when he and so many liberals say they support our police?

What is the purpose of this despicable painting other than to divide and spread the hate across America?

A piece of art depicting police officers as pigs with guns terrorizing a black neighborhood is currently displayed proudly inside our nation's Capitol.

This is an example of why who is president matters, they set the tone of the White House, the capital and the country.

Freedom of expression. I know, it's cliché to promote our freedoms, but this is explicitly protected as freedom of expression, and essentially freedom of speech.

    Get. Over. It.

This is an artists interpretation of the events surrounding a specific murder by police of an African American man, and the actions of the community afterwards, as interpreted by someone who clearly sees artistic merit in its display.

You have your interpretation, I have mine. I consider it murder to summarily execute unarmed civilians as empowered by the state.

You disagree. I really don't care that you disagree, the facts remain facts; someone with a firearm shot and executed someone without a firearm, something as a member of the general public, we are forbidden to do.

This is an expression, artistic expression, of the "rights" reality in this country. Cops have more rights then people.

That. That must change. As for "peddling division," I find that a hilarious assertion, especially given the context.

You people think it's OK for cops to kill unarmed people. This is 2016. Not (*)(*)(*)(*)ing 1816. The time for barbarism MUST come to a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing end. ALLOWING the cops to continue wholesale slaughter of our civilians is REAL division.

(and No, I do NOT support Black Lives Matter. I just believe we need to hold our cops to a much higher standard then we currently do, and do not understand why the (*)(*)(*)(*), as a tax payer, anyone would disagree.)

There is a difference between freedom of expression and government sanctioning a lie by hanging it in a government building.

Absolutely disgusting. Cannot wait for the coming regime change. While an artist is free to "express" himself with such a painting, the fact it is hanging in the capitol is the issue here. It furthers a destructive narrative.

Some people will disagree because, essentially, they think white people should be able to kill blacks for sport. This is a trend that goes WAY back in American history. One of Bob Dylan's first songs was on this back in the 50's.

In the picture, does anyone note that one of the rioters is being depicted as a Wolf? Since the publication of Art Spiegelman's "Maus" some years ago this use of animal metaphor, particularly in socially conscious works, has become very popular. I dislike it, as it insults creatures that are truly god's innocents in many cases but it is a recognized artistic convention, nothing more.

I see that the usual people are using this piece to rant about Obama.

Perhaps one of the knuckleheads can explain to the rest of us what Obama has to do with a Congressional art competition.

    The REPUBLICAN congress, BTW!

Oh, and one other thing. The winners are on display in the tunnel between the Capitol Building and the Longworth House Office Building, which is NOT open to the public.

But the right wing trash blog that is flogging this story, and the fools that bought it and blamed someone who had nothing to do with it, don't know that.

The untitled artwork, which supposedly symbolizes the unrest that followed the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO, was selected as part of the annual Congressional Art Competition. It currently hangs in a tunnel between the U.S. Capitol building and Longworth House Office Building.

And yet its at the start of the article you did not bother reading.

You would also know that congress as a whole had nothing to do with this..

    http://www.stlamerican.com/entertai...cle_736171a4-286e-11e6-94dc-1f8772a8ad56.html

He was recognized with a first place certificate in Missouri’s 1st Congressional District as part of the United States Congressional Art Competition at the end of April.

U.S. Rep. Wm. Lacy Clay presented Pulphus his certificate during a local ceremony last month at Webster University’s campus in downtown St. Louis.

So instead of being critical of any information you dont like perhaps actually research something yourself instead if ranting about one blog and then getting your information from another.

    Also

"The work is seen by members of Congress, staffers, lobbyists and thousands of visitors to the U.S. Capitol complex."

From the link in the OP
The untitled artwork ... was selected as part of the annual Congressional Art Competition. It currently hangs in a tunnel between the U.S. Capitol building and Longworth House Office Building.

Where does it say it hangs in the "capital building"?
Where does it say "pres obama put this up"?

Why do you have to stretch and twist the truth to try to make/defend your position?

No. The government sanctioned artistic expression. There is no plaque that says "We agree and endorse the notion that all cops are pigs, and sanction this specific art because we do."

You folks love to work in absolutes, there is no oblique reasoning, and no thought that actually goes outside the echo chamber the rabid, frothing, slobbering, dauphine right has constructed for itself.

Artistic expression is a cornerstone in free societies. Dissension, as well as ridiculing and being free to ridicule the government (which includes the police, as they are government, state workers.) are protected because this is a free society.

(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) and complain all you like, but I for one like that I can say what I want about our government, draw and paint what I want about our government.

You know, I hear a whole hell of a lot of white noise spewing from the "freedom loving" right wing echo chamber on this forum that just so happens to disagree with practically every right we have if it goes against their ideology.

    Cowards.

That's Missouri Democrat, Lacy Clay if anyone really had any question. And yes, it matters. This is part of why the left lost. False and hateful narratives put forth by the Democrats and the Left, as exampled in the awful painting itself.

These are the things the Democrats believe, and that's why America rejected them.

Of course Obama didn't personally hang it, but he certainly set the tone for this to even be allowed near our capital. The fact ANY govt official thinks this is acceptable as art should disturb all of us. Painting innocent cops as animals...hmmmm. Wonder how far a painting of blacks as monkeys would get in a govt sponsored art competition? Just saying.

Double standard BS and more selective outrage from the left.

Brown murdered himself. If you charge cops in a thug induced rage, you deserve to get shot because you present no valuable qualities to society. Darwin won that day. And the cops that were executed because of the BLM lie....that's on EVERY supporter, included our first family who openly NEVER condemned BLM or connected the incidents.
