The father of a Navy SEAL killed during an anti-terrorism raid in Yemen is demanding an investigation into its planning and criticized the Trump administration for its timing.

Bill Owens told The Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/2lTYhPB ) in a story published Sunday that he refused to meet with President Donald Trump when both came to Dover Air Force Base to receive the casket carrying his son, Chief Special Warfare Officer William “Ryan” Owens.

“I want an investigation,” said Owens, a retired Fort Lauderdale police detective and veteran. “The government owes my son an investigation.”

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders told ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday she believes the president would support an investigation.

“I can’t imagine what this father is going through,” she said. “His son is a true American hero, and we should forever be in his son’s debt.”

Very little factual information in his complaints.. Now know that his calls for an investigation seem more political based then anything. That or perhaps he is being kept in the dark to be used as a weapon like the OP article for example.

Exactly right. There is to be no presenting of facts.

As to this gentleman who doesn't wish to meet with President Trump, that's his prerogative. His son gave his life in defense of his country, and given the fact that there is no draft, did so of his own volition. Yet another instance of an unjustified attack directed at President Trump. Just out of curiosity, did any parents of killed or wounded service members refuse to meet with President Obama? If so, was that fact considered a newsworthy event?

He screwed the pooch as the saying goes. He could have met Trump in person who came to mourn the son. And had a chat with Trump. Ask Trump the hard questions. Then if you are not happy, call for an investigation.

Shunning Trump only prevented said father from getting any side of it. Not Obama's side or Trump's side.

Trump; is super anti war. For him to OK this mission means it had to be seriously important. The Trump admin insists plenty of valuable intelligence was captured.

So just to make it clear: President Obama wasn't president when Donald Trump, who couldn't even be bothered to be in the Situation Room, signed off on the attack.

 

When my uncle Gene got killed in Taejon South Korea, I am positive that President Truman never showed up to respect my uncle. I don't recall any outrage by Democrats at that time. The difference here is the father had a chance to meet Trump and refused.

 

The father is asking for and investigation into the planning (under Obama) and the timing (under Trump)

You fear an investigation because while the planning was thorough the timing of the raid may have been rushed to accomodate Trump.

You can post until you're blue in the face, but an investigation is the only way we'll ever know

 

What really bothered a lot of republicans about Vince Foster is the trip to kill himself. I have driven in that area of DC a number of times and for the life of me, still do not understand why Foster took that particular trip to that park to set down and kill himself.

The way his office was virtually gutted also was troubling.

Ken Starr said Foster shot himself and for me that ended the question of who shot him.

More troubling for me though is what the heck happened in the White House that so depressed him he shot himself? Starr never took that on.

no investigation and lots of questions, back to Trump. He has indicated in several interviews that there is going to be another war, (talking about second chances to keep oil/ Iran etc etc) maybe they'll investigate once the body bags hits a specific number.
