I haven't looked into how the VPC got their suicide stats. However, the site you link to is trying to discredit the VPC by quoting John Lott, a fraud who fabricated an entire survey about defensive gun use in his book More Guns Less Crime. Can't they find anyone more credible?
LOL Lott started off as anti gun and changed when the research showed him he was wrong. His More Guns Less Crime has more validity than any of the BM publications. The Vile Pile of Crap is a well known disinformation center run by far left agitators who are enemies of or constitution and of the truth
It was all I could come up with in the time I had. But if you can refute any info from that link, I'm all ears.
†****************** You simply refuse to believe anything from anyone that is Pro-Gun, with you, it is not credibility that is at odds, it is your Agenda, if I espoused Anti-Gun rhetoric, you would agree regardless of credibility or the distinct lack thereof, you subscribe to unproven unverified statistics published by organizations with a declared intent to Ban Firearms and introduce Legislation restricting Law Abiding Citizens Right to keep and bear Arms. Yet, if I state my own experiences using Firearms for Personal Defense, many will discount such as Anecdotal evidence, so what amounts to proper evidence ? In any case, the fallacies against Firearms ownership do not constitute fact as those statements are disproved by a majority of Law Abiding Citizens that are also Gun Owners..
The pernicious Myth of a Good Guy with a Gun ????? Yet, every Day, there are many accounts of a good Gal or Guy with a Gun saving the Day and someone's Bacon. Some Myth.....
well here is the deal. His posts demonstrate the he doesn't believe you can own a gun and be a "good guy" because if you own a gun you might vote pro gun and that is evil. you see it has NOTHING to do with public safety or stopping crime. I have been dealing with people who try to pretend they are anti gun for crime control reasons for 4+ decades. And invariably, when you strip away the BS, its not about crime, its not about safety, its all about politics. That is why 99% of the people who will find on boards like this who are anti gun are also big government lefties. what causes them to attack gun ownership is the politics of the NRA and those of us who tend to vote against gun banners.
Whenever a CCW holder intervines in an active shooter situation the number of fatalities drops to around two on average. That's why you don't see CCW holders stopping mass shootings. Because they nip it in the bid before it is considered a mass shooting. Besides, most of the mass shootings are in gun free zones.
thats a good point-its like saying Vaccines have not stopped a mass epidemic (lets say a mass epidemic has 1000 fatalities) because not enough people die to call it an epidemic
Potentially, any defensive use of a gun may have prevented a mass shooting, given the FBI's definition
This is one example: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...er-shoots-gunman-met-0420-20150419-story.html
Nice fantasy but if that were true then the US should have one of the lowest mass shooting rates in the world instead of one of the highest. Guns are clearly not comparable to vaccines.
we are actually one of the safest outside areas run by gun banning Democrats. BTW if gun bans made people safe, Mexico should be one of the safest nations in the world and DC and Chicago should have no murders
Mexico doesn't have a gun ban. States which voted for Obama actually had lower violent crime rates: "The average violent crime rate (murder, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault) in 2008 for the 28 states that voted for Barack Obama in the 2008 Presidential election was 389 incidents per 100,000 residents. The average violent crime rate for the 22 states that voted for John McCain was 412 incidents per 100,000 residents – or a 5.8 percent higher incidence of violent crime." http://editions.lib.umn.edu/smartpolitics/2009/09/16/red-states-have-higher-crime-r/ So no evidence that all those guns in red states are doing much good. Just TD cherry picking again.
