Hello, I'm from Los Angeles and am politically left leaning (big surprise) with some libertarian tendencies. I used to post on podcaster Dan Carlin's forum until it was shut down and this place was recommended to me. Looking forward to checking it out.
Well, welcome communist! Just kidding, I'm a "Liberal", capital "L" Canadian living in "Liberal" Vancouver, British Columbia where we think nothing of tearing up streets for bike lanes and have been licensing marijuana dispensaries for several years. For the record, Liberals in this country have little or nothing in common with American Democrats. American Democrats are closer to our "socialist progressive" NDP. The Liberal parties, plural, I belong to are business friendly, promoting economic development as a means to pay for social programs.
There were a few Canadians on the Dan Carlin forum, most of whom were more informed about U.S. politics than the majority of Americans. Whatever you are doing up there to educate your citizenry, you are doing something right.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that but thanks! Sanity is a trait I see rapidly diminishing in this country.
Well, frankly our politics are boring. Right now the big political issue is the new budget which the government says will help the middle class, the other side says "it's not enough and you should have elected us" It is much more interesting to see Americans arguing over blow jobs in the White House, grabbing ******* or this: It doesn't get much better.
It is entertaining, yes, but scary at the same time. I've never seen anything like what's going on in Washington D.C.
Welcome Two Man! I am from Claremont, so we are neighbors'ish. I am politically right leaning (bigger surprise for the area) with some libertarian tendencies. It will be great to interact with you here and see where our libertarian ideologies match, and where our left/right leanings divide!
Please post, Two Man/Master Po, the cons are driving off all the liberals here with near constant tsunamis of Trumpship.
There's such partisanism on this board, I'm sure there will never be any mass exodus of liberals, or conservatives. Chum turns both "sides" on.
Welcome, I'm so glad my family got us out of LA years ago. Clearly it is now the land of "Fruits and Nuts."
Thanks for the welcome. L.A. isn't too bad. My only real complaint is the traffic, otherwise it's got a lot to offer. There are "Fruits and Nuts" everywhere.
Ha, no one has! I have covered politics as a profession for 30 years. Nothing compare to this. A president who has told more lies than amendments to the constitution, Republicans blocking their own legislation. Hell, the big news out of Ottawa is that Trudeau took too long to speak on the London terror attack.
Hah, hi Two Man. The numbers of former DCF/MHF members is mounting. Us refugees may need our own enclave soon......
Nice to see a familiar name. I'm certainly not looking for another MHF enclave though, quite the opposite. This place is so big it's going to take a while to explore and I kind of like that. New frontiers and all.
I agree, it's size is it's strength. I'm sure there are Trolls to avoid here too but plenty others prepared to debate honestly and their numbers are large enough to drown out the cries of the intellectually dishonest. At least there is no danger of one poster constituting 10% of the total posts. Anyway, as you say, nice to see a familiar name in a sea of strangers.
I'm really sorry to hear that. So in that case a double welcome to the PF if it will help with the pain and suffering.
