The American view on "work" and "labor" is destructive to the humans that inhabit this country. I know a lot on the right will disagree with me on this, but:

We have one life, and live about 75 years on average. We are working well into our 60s on average, if not closer to 70.

The earth is massive and we only live an average of 25,550 days, or 613,200 hours, or 36,792,000 minutes. Each breath brings you closer to your death.

Why should Americans not have vacation time? Why should we not have ma/paternity leave? Why should Americans be expected to work 51.5 weeks out of the year, plus overtime, plus working on vacation (hence the .5)?

Why must Americans sacrifice the better part of their lives without having a chance to travel, see the world, or spend time with their families?

Only fools and idiots believe the free market will fix this problem. And only fools and idiots believe, since they "own a business and don't get vacations" that they aren't entitled to a vacation also.

AMERICA is the reason for this mess. We don't value ourselves.

 

When white means education, strong family with father and mother, taking care of your children, strong work ethic...pretty much, yeah.

 

The prevailing opinion among the subculture he is talking about is that these folks became successful by "acting white."

White culture is White Pride Month, oh, wait, we don't have that.
White culture is Miss White America, wait, don't have that either.
White culture is WET, or White Entertainment Channel. Drats, failed again.

White culture are BBQs, Little League, the Fourth of July, etc. And accordingly, if anyone misappropriates those things it's racist, just like how a white person isn't supposed have dreadlocks or hoop earrings because that's racist.

No matter how white culture is defined, the left will either call it racist or attempt to infiltrate and dilute it. The left has made it racist for a white person to say s/he's proud to be white.

 

And that is the sort of baloney white people will organize to counter.

 

Individuals are not culture. But I won't argue with you that black Americans are doing just swell.

Well, race is superficial and rather meaningless. I understand why black people are a different culture given the history, but there comes a time to put away such childish things.

 

Leftie/socialist mentality is a mystery to me. If you can't win elections, it is because the other guy is a racist, homophobic, a misogynist, or worst of all just plain white. Will you ever understand you lost because working class America is tired of your BS?

Perhaps we value our ability to afford a lifestyle over leisure. Perhaps some of us value succeeding and producing over playing? Perhaps some of us like what we do for a living.

 

You didn't address my point. Why can't you have those things, enjoyment of your job, a good wage, success, as well as time for vacation, and time for family?

Why are they mutually exclusive to so many people of the conservative persuasion?

 

I disagree with it too. It was pretty horrible but it was over 50 years ago.

We live in this world now and the price of a grudge against people of the same race as the people that treated their ancestors poorly is being felt solely by the ones holding it.

I'm not saying that we should forget, but we should let go.
