Understood and it actually makes perfect sense. At least to me. We aren't exactly lacking in unskilled workers so its not going to be a priority for the US compared to an engineer from X.
Well he's not a citizen so I'm unclear how he can be a model one, unless self identification works for citizenship too, just like sex.
Boot his but out and send him to the back of the line. If he was Andrew Carnegie or Nicholas Tesla----then maybe make an effort to keep him.
oh i'm sure there is a reporter (or 20) that are looking into that. Is this story mainstream or just a little nugget in the back corner of the web? I hadn't heard it before this a.m. and only here. to humor myself I went to CNN to search for the story, didn't find THIS one but I found another.... http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/08/us/undocumented-mom-deportation-order-ice-trnd/index.html what I found really odd was this little nugget. they hold news conferences about an illegal going in for her checking in front of the federal building? Seriously? what-dafuq. Who does that? CNN is pre- documenting this story from her house, and showing the drive there? This looks staged, like they knew this was going to happen.
There will always be a market for a workforce that doesn't obey any labor laws, minimum wage, and has no legal recourse in any employer disputes. Is that the demand you are supporting?
There is demand for unskilled labor within legal parameters. Which is part of why businesses have consistently petitioned for higher quotas.
Visa programs which are generally unavailable for Mexicans (as previously noted) and which are based on outdated quotes (also previously noted).
Negative Ghostrider. Mexico is on the allowed countries list for H-2A visas. Tell your amigos all they have to do is apply legally.
Yahoo picked up on this illegal that could be deported. I wonder, did they pick up the story about the 14 year old in Maryland being raped by those 2 illegals that were 17 and 18?
I think it is, they seem to see hard working people trying to make a life for themselves and their family(s). And it seems the path to legal status is a land mine. This dude's been here near 20 yrs, married a citizen, applied towards citizenship a decade ago, and still doesn't have it. And is being deported. So, I see it as a matter of policies that neither party wants to address. Why, I don't know.
I spent 28 days in jail for writing a bad check. I was 18. 16$ for gas. I didn't do that again. Cheers
This has been the crux of every discussion on immigration, the Definition of "illegal". Im no expert on this, but I'm not sure how you are considered an "illegal" if you have registered and are checking in every year with permission to stay until your next "check-in". I wouldn't consider that a "gray area", I would think their status would be anything but "illegal"
You want to deport someone, even though they have contributed to America. They haven't been these "rapists" or "murderers" Trump stereotypes Mexicans as, the guy has proven he is no threat to America.
H-2As are for temporary work and, unless something has changed, can't be used as a path to a green card. Edit: looks like it is still the case "Does the H-2A visa lead to a “green card” (permanent residence) or US citizenship? No. The H-2A is a nonimmigrant visa issued for a limited period of time. It does not put workers on a path to permanent residence in the US or American citizenship." https://www.cgdev.org/doc/migration/H-2A_Fact_Sheet8.6.pdf
Right. We aren't talking about settling down in the suburbs, you were talking about a need for unskilled labor. Why in the world would we take a temporary need of unskilled workers and make them citizens? That's not rational. What is rational is letting them come in to work (legally) and when they're not needed, they go home with fatter wallets and dreams of the Salinas mall.
