This affects the Earth's climate more than humans do: sunspots deliver more energy to the atmosphere causing global temperature to rise. Now that there are less sunspots, we should see a cooling off period. Historically, periods of minimal sunspot activity coincide with the colder periods of the Little Ice Age, which lasted from about 1450 to 1820. http://www-das.uwyo.edu/~geerts/cwx/notes/chap02/sunspots.html
Looks like we've solved that little problem. Now if we can just fix global warming and do something about those magnetic poles.
I'll await evidence of global cooling this year, following (yet another) hottest year on record. I'll also expect a full retraction when that doesn't happen.
People having to set old tires on fire in order to keep warm during another Little Ice Age will care very little about Al Gore and his politicized pseudo-scientific agenda. All those prison cells that were intended to hold global warming "deniers" (as per the wishes of Eco-Nazis and AGW zealots) may just come into use when we start to analyze who has purposely pushed a global hoax in order to make untold millions off the fear campaign they themselves manufactured.
Al Gore is going to make another fortune selling us back the trees we planted to combat global warming for firewood to combat the cold.
OK - well - are you admitting to being a science denier? If you read the second link, it provides evidence to suggest that the sensitivity of climate to the effects of solar irradiance is about 27% higher than its sensitivity to forcing by greenhouse gases. It also goes on to say that satellite data records an overall increase in sunspot activity, which will increase Earth temperatures by .05C.
From the ashes of the Earth a new, weather-resistant mankind will arise to challenge the forces which would destroy it.
Is my gas guzzling V8 pickup truck to blame for this? I expect Prius drivers to blame me somehow. It's always a good laugh.
So... "what if" that cooling does not happen? For 15 years On this and other forums, I have been reading sanguine rationales for the coming natural cooling. But those predictions never seem to actually happen. Otoh, the climate appears to be continuing to warm...for what ever reason, human or natural. Is there any result that would convince people that discontinous climate warming is happening? Are there ANY observable climate changes that might convince us that there is a human component?
If China refused to obey environmental restrictions, would you favor going to war to save mankind from destruction caused by their pollution?
Lol does a blog post normally qualify as scientific consensus? Regardless, we can do our own science. You've proposed a hypothesis - that a lack of sunspots will (for whatever reason) cool the earth this year. We can observe for ourselves whether that actually happens. I'll be tuned in to see your retraction a year from now.
I don't see how we can know that with absolute certainty. In order to get a definite answer, we'd have to know what the temperature would have otherwise been. Since we only have the one case study, the globe itself, we can't subject the question to controlled experiments. That means the question can't be answered by hard science.
That's not how it works. There is a delay yet unexplained of 10 to 15 years. Solar activity is at it's lowest since the 1700's and why solar scientists are predicting coming cooling that will last about 30 years.
I agree So, whether Warmists are right, or not Skeptics will always say the question is unproved And therefore we should do nothing
It is partly to blame but your central heating and air conditioning are more to blame and worst of all is the over consumerism of modern society which demands a new Iphone every 12 months.
