I wonder because I can't seem to have any at the time. It is quite an important aspect of this affair, and one people all but totally dropped on the eve of Iraq's invasion.

For myself I still can't see Assad's gain in doing it. Frankly it looks like a false flag jog at this point. Please convince me otherwise.

They tracked the planes that dropped the chemical weapons to the airbase that was struck by US cruise missiles.

(Pssst!! There are these amazing things...called "search engines". Learn this...BEFORE you start a another thread based on ignorance of the facts. JS...)

As for Assad's motives....he may well have thought Trump might be the same as Pres.Mommy Pants,"Line in the Sand'... if so,he learned otherwise....don't really know.

The question that defies any sane logic is why he would do it since he has many other weapons that are far more destructive. There is no credible upside for him under we assume the he is a kook. I doubt that we will know for sure but that specific lacks smell test credibility. The explanation given above by the above poster lacks any depth so it allow the poster to easily dismiss a very pertinent question.

Just to remind you that, so far, Assad's side of the story is that the very same airplanes you talk about hit a warehouse where the nasty stuff was likely stored (according to them). In other words, nobody denies there has been an airstrike.

    But thanks anyway.

Fear doctrine, maybe? I don't know the geopolitical situation enough to weight if it would be a viable means of coercion.

Assad probably didn't do it. His brother runs the show and he's a savage SOB.

It wouldn't have dispersed the way it did.. Chlorine is heavier than air.

But it's the Syrian regime nonetheless, right? And the reason he did it; a "he is mad so don't bother looking for rational"- type of conclusion? Possible but I doubt it. Still, thanks for putting me on some kind of track.

So it's chlorine? That's a certainty? Not really familiar with the stuff - how it dissipates, and if it is deliverable with ordnance. Thanks again.
