A one sided contract without full knowledge and consent is not an "agreement" that would stand up in any court of We the People.

Did god provide Adam AND Eve with a written contract spelling out the terms and conditions and the consequences of failing to abide by them?

What were god's obligations under the contract and did he fulfill his side of the bargain? Obviously not since he arranged for the snake to be there to ensure that the agreement was violated.

Were Adam AND Eve in a position to provide their INFORMED CONSENT to this "agreement"? Obviously they weren't because they did not have any of the benefits of the "tree of knowledge" at the time god IMPOSED his arbitrary terms and conditions without spelling out the consequences.

Written contracts are something that make sense to you as a modern person. This is a Bronze Age myth. A written contract would not have been thought of at the time.

God created Adam and Eve and they had no knowledge of good and evil. So in essence they were like kids. Do we make written contracts with our children? "There is a stove in the kitchen, you may not touch it".

On the other hand the consequences for touching a stove are a burned finger whereas the consequences of Adam willfully betraying god is the hereditary passing on of sin and death.

So that has a lot to do with determinism. I have often had difficulty trying to figure out if the author of Genesis believed in determinism or free will because both seem to be a t play in the myth.

I think he did spell out the consequences. "If you eat from the tree you will surely die."

I think a lot of people would agree with you though, by our standards there was an element of negligence in leaving two "kids" alone with some deadly fruit and a deceptive snake.

A fascinating ancient book that was preserved through the book burning parties of the dark ages
    in Arabic is now available.

I have read it several times.......
it sure adds some fascinating details that do help to make sense out of the entire Adam, Eve, Cain, Abel..... Luluwa and Aklia situation.......

Satan as an off the scale talented A. I. in comparison to Adam and Eve as children......
does make some sense out of this.

Just an FYI, the Bronze Age was full of laws and legal contracts to fulfill things like trade agreements and treaties between tribes so yes, that was something even commoners were aware of back then. And to prove the point many of those laws are in Genesis.

That Adam and Eve did not have the benefit of any legal advice was something that legal scholars of the time would have been aware of but the line between religion and the state was vague during that time period.

Of course I wasn't serious. I don't know what happened between Moses and God. Maybe they had a heart to heart conversation about the subject. We are in no position to determine time limits with respect to the Bible.

"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." II Peter 3 : 8

Another thing I have never understood about the myth is what animals did wrong. In Romans Paul says that sin and death entered the world through one man, Adam, and redemption was a result of one man, Jesus. In Exodus we are told that sin passes from father to son.

Why do animals die? What did aardvarks and elephants etc do to deserve death?

If the USA is so powerful then why can't we beat knuckle dragging terrorists in the Middle East?

who says His plans were thwarted? He seeks the fruits of His labor in what He made. when the gold is refined in the fire one doesn't need the fire anymore, when one uses the hammer and anvil to form the gold into the image and likeness desired (Gen:1:26) there is no need to keep the anvil and the hammer, or expose the gold to such activity. a farmer will hold the seed of his crop that yields according to his desire. plow under the unyielding crop and plant that seed in the field.

So A&E doesn't yield the result, hence proved, but to God no, He made all He has no false expectations of the flesh. man is proved to not be innocent despite man's desire to portray himself as the victim. what most don't understand is the Almighty gave man His place in the earth hence dominion over all the creatures in the earth, man choose to make that position according to his own judgement of what is good and evil, and disregarded that it is God's Judgement of what is good for His creation.

Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

how is it man knows? man at this point now experiences the result of his own judgement of what is good and evil rather than God's Judgement. being as gods thinking to do God's job. which would be death to the life man originally received of God which is to do according to God's Judgement. the devils delusion is that God's Judgement is death, but that is a lie, God's Judgement is Life, any other judgement would result in death.

Even before eating the fruit "man" made his own judgement of what is good and evil and experienced the result. The serpent deceived Eve into eating the fruit. Adam then made a decision to also eat the fruit and by his action he brought sin and death into the world. He made his own judgement prior to eating the fruit.

That this changed the perception of Adam and Eve regarding the nature of right and wrong is illustrated by the idea that they now become ashamed of being naked. And how that perception is affected is not really made clear other than the fact that they realize it is now possible to do wrong. If they had no idea that the possibility to do wrong even existed prior to Adam's decision to consume the fruit then he could not have known it was wrong. Yet we know that Adam did know that it was wrong because he had been given specific instructions.

God's judgement against Adam and Eve is death. When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.

There is the apocryphal story of Lilith who was created before Eve. Lilith considered herself Adam's equal because they formed at the same time. After Lilith left Adam because she refused to be his inferior, Eve was created from Adam's rib.

Actually .. the Satan of the OT is not such a bad fellow. The identity of the Snake is shrouded in mystery.

The Satan (the adversary) of Job is part of the Divine Council (one of God's sons) who does not act outside God's authority.

For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-- all things have been created through Him and for Him.-Colossians 1:16

God created evil...God knew Lucifer would become Satan, the embodiment of evil....evil was created as a choice, there must be a choice between positive and negative....without choice there is no freedom. Watson is a talking box that we get info from....God created that too. There is nothing that exists, that God didn't create. God created all the religions, and there is positive and negative in each one.

Reincarnation is a process of learning and evolving into enlightenment. Ever think about why God makes people in Haiti, Syria, and Iraq live in suffering their whole life? Think about people like the Nazis that caused so much suffering to so many. Are they now suffering in those places to learn from their actions? Hard to believe God would make innocents go through so much pain. Are many liberals in America reincarnated from those that suffered by the Nazis?

Jesus didn't call it Karma, he just said, "You shall reap what you sow." Just a different way of putting it.....Jesus even spoke of reincarnation in a secret to his disciples...Matthew 7:10-13
