Yup this flip-flop really amazed me. DJ Trump is flip-flopping worse than Mitt Romney. This seems almost as if Romney got elected -- the ghost of Romney.
How exactly are you rationalizing that renegotiating NAFTA is a betrayal of his dislike for the old agreement ?
Trump is a complete fool, totally unprepared for the office of POTUS. He just flips a coin everyday to decide what he believes. Recently, the NAFTA coin came up tails. It is that simple.
As Christine reported Wednesday, President Trump agreed to not withdraw the United States from NAFTA, but rather to renegotiate the terms of the free trade agreement. Thursday morning he explained on Twitter why his position had changed and what the new conditions would be. “I received calls from the President of Mexico and the Prime Minister of Canada asking to renegotiate NAFTA rather than terminate. I agreed…subject to the fact that if we do not reach a fair deal for all, we will then terminate NAFTA. Relationships are good-deal very possible!” he wrote.....snip~ https://townhall.com/tipsheet/leahb...ta-govt-shutdown-puerto-rico-bailout-n2319113 As usual, the Leftness just didn't understand all he said.
I'm using the exact words of Donald Trump. He told you that he ran his entire campaign on NAFTA and the Wall primarily. He told you that NAFTA in its entirety was the worst deal he had seen, ever. Of course, he would then confuse what he meant by "worst deal" when then trying to explain to his supporters that the Iran Nuclear deal was the worst deal he had seen, ever. Whatever "ever" might mean in the mind of Trump, or in the Trumpasphere, he clearly told his supporters and the rest of the world that NAFTA had to go, would go and the he would be the ONLY candidate capable of making it go. Now, he says, NAFTA can stay and they he's comfortable with having Mexico and Canada, engage in re-negotiations after having met with them on the subject. He did the exact same thing on China. He campaigned on a promise to declare China, as a currency manipulator and that China, had been raping the American economy. Later, he meets with China's PM and reverses himself, declaring that China is not all that bad, he can work with China, and China, is now doing good things in the world, especially with respect to North Korea. Of course, this all came AFTER the Chinese government suddenly had a change of heart and decided to grant Donald Trump, the long awaited patents that he had been waiting for. So, China, is a currency manipulator and rapist of the American economy until China, awards Trump patents. China, is now doing "great things in the world" and "will do great things with respect to North Korea." How convenient. That's how I add 2+2 and derive 4. What's your calculus look like for supporting a man who has less credibility than George W. Bush after lying about Iraq's NIE?
Old deal = bad Renegotiated deal= end of old deal Your implication that renegotiating is a reversal of his position= FAKE NEWS
Which was not the point at all. But, since Trumpets allow Trump to say one thing on Monday, then change his statement on Tuesday, without ever checking what was actually said on Monday, by Wednesday, Trumpets conclude that they actually understood all he said, even when Trump himself does not recall or remember all he said. THAT's the point here.
When you figure out why the President of Mexico and Prime Minister of Canada called him. Let us know. Evidently they thought they should give a call before he just gets rid of NAFTA.
How do you take a deal that he claimed was the worst deal he had ever seen in his life (before he claimed the Iran deal the worst deal he had seen in his life) and somehow turn that deal into a good deal? That is where you will find your Fake News. Do you understand what an international trade agreement looks like? Have you ever browsed one? Ever try to read one? Do you have any idea what parts of the agreement Donald Trump considered "bad for America" and the worst he had seen in his entire life? Do you understand what Impact Analysis means and its function in such a re-negotiation? Do you fully understand that the North American Free Trade Agreement impacts a whole lot more than just North America! Do you understand the Currency implications to such an agreement? Do you understanding the global banking implications to such an agreement? Do you understand the infrastructural changes and their associated costs structures involved in such an agreement? Do you understand 1/10th of what you are talking about here?
Maybe they believed he was mentally unstable enough that they decided to give him a call. That says what about the actual agreement itself?
More than likely they knew if they didn't call.....he would shitcan NAFTA. Which he still might do if he doesn't think its fair for all involved.
If this deal had been renegotiated already, and you knew what the new deal contained, then and only then could you make an argument that he reversed course. Until that time however, you are claiming that he has reversed course based on absolutely NOTHING. Renegotiating, and creating a new deal, effectively have the same meaning. Whether or not they decide to call it NAFTA2 or BBBNM, is wholly irrelevant. The details of the new agreement are what matter, and up until this point, the details have not been negotiated. If your side want to be taken seriously, you need to stop being the boy who cried wolf. I am sure you can find something with which to make "political hay" when the new deal is actually negotiated, but until that time, you are complaining about NOTHING. Far too many on the left have utterly lost their mind since the election of Trump, and you seem to be squarely amongst them.
