President Trump warned there is a chance of "a major, major conflict with North Korea."

Trump made the comment in an interview with Reuters, published Thursday evening, one day after members of his national security team briefed all 100 senators with an update on the "urgent threat" posed by North Korea's nuclear weapons program.

Trump added that solving the North Korea problem without armed conflict would be preferable, but that it would not be easy. "We'd love to solve things diplomatically but it's very difficult," he told Reuters.

Administration officials have said sanctions are a more likely course of action to press North Korea back to the negotiating table, but also stressed that military strikes are still an option.

    Is anyone surprised?

    Wonderful. :?
Figures that this would have to be one of the extremely rare times that we can believe the so-called president.

    Thanks for the update.

I am waiting for S to hit the fan over there any minute.

Obviously Trump is going to call fat boy Kim's bluff.

Obviously fat boy Kim is bluffing.

It could be bad for Seoul however. They are within easy range of Kim's long range arty.

Japan should be fine though. None of the fat boy's missiles work yet.

If Xi is smart he will move his 100,000 man army into N.Korea and depose the fat boy and put another puppet in there who moves the right way when Xi pulls the strings.

What Xi apparently has is a wacko running N.Korea who is out of control.

Trump will fix that if Xi does not.

Hey Don, cruise missiles and drones are the best diplomats, so just surgically knock out a few of Kim's nuclear sites to teach him a lesson..:)

He's signaling to China that they need to do something and he's signaling to the Norks to watch their step.

If China doesn't get rid of the NK regime, Trump will.

China needs to step up and do something.

    1) get rid of Kim
    2) unify the Koreas
    3) demilitarize the entire peninsula

That IS interesting. Kim Jong Un is in big trouble. A lot of pieces are moving physically and via media drip. China has all but withdrawn support for HIM while still making certain we understand they do support NK itself.

    http://www.cnbc.com/2017/04/26/nort...-jong-un-is-a-weak-leader-new-study-says.html

That article is well researched. Ties together a lot of China's wishes for NK, who would elect a new leader if something happens to KJU etc etc

Now I couldn't find any comments from NK the last few days but if NK doesn't state real fast they're coming to the nuclear disarming table quite soon? Instead of the Bullshit threats? We are going to kill KJU. That article supports this being the logical course to take

If China has the balls to take out Kim, a unified and non-militarized Korea is possible.

Will China accept a stable, non-militarized, democratic, and capitalist Korea on their border? I don't know.

Even though there are twice as many people in South Korea as North Korea, a unification would be more difficult than the unification of the Germanies because North Korea is not as advanced as East Germany was.

Trump has no choice. Either China takes care of this problem, or else Trump either takes care of it, or he goes down in history as the president who let NK perfect nuclear ballistic missiles that can take out the western U.S.

This is a scenario where Trump can't win. The 'hate trump at all cost regardless of what he does' left will vilify him regardless of his decision. If North Korea strikes, for example, Seoul, then the left will say he let X number of people die by not striking first and if he strikes first they'll say he's needlessly going to war.

KJU needs to realize the only way he lives a full life, not in hiding, is to back off. Not sure he's capable though.

    The Chinese are lying cowards.

I don't expect them to do anything.

Trump will be forced to do all the work.

Exactly, its now gone too far NKs and really its KJUs obsession with ballistic missles is gonna get him dead.

I bet the Pentagon and letter agencies gave him a timeline before NK will have the new 4k to 8k missile done and it's not that far off. A clear and present danger. Then Trump meets with Xi and all sudden China is on board. Kinda. Now Trump is bully talking and there's no one better.

What's KJU to do? Nothing besides some pretty substantial disarmament will save him and better be quick... If he does that though he's screwed at home since disarming will make him look weak. Then he will get dead that way internally. Or China will burn an asset they have and killem.. I mean lots of ways KJU gets dead not many to keep breathin

China must have contacts within the NK military and intelligence agencies. I wish China would foment a coup, KJU would die, and this problem ends.

Chances are really high that North Korea with attack South Korea when the US starts the war.
And North Korea has a huge arsenal of missiles. They also have a massive WMD arsenal.
South Korea has like 20 million people living right next to their border of North Korea.

It really would be the dumbest thing ever of the US, to gamble the lives of millions of people,
by starting this war unprovoked and without any legal authority.

And yet, our choices are that we shall live under the shadow of a nuclear NK, or we shall not.

I hope China takes care of this.

No. The World is objectively better off without a nuclear North Korea.

Let them,,,it will only prove what some of us have been saying all along.

It won't end with just the death of the little fat boy; his cronies in the regime are in the same boat he is, and to keep them from killing him and taking over he has to be ruthless and show honor and strength to the outside world. The mafia gang around him are no better than he is; he needs to be killed - but so will a number of his regime or they will function no differently. The problem is with their system of government; they have been operating as paranoid freaks for 70 years, and have lived in a lunatic environment created by the jong il family for all that time. Human decency, civil/human rights, etc these concepts are alien to the populace and most of the regime, including the soldiers defending it.
