Makes no sense. During the oil crisis in the1970s, Ford would have been the top Auto seller for as long as the patent remained in place. They could have upped the price of their cars by quite a bit.

Exactly. In 1978, a car company with a patent on this mythical carb would have destroyed the competition and totally dominated the car industry for the life of the patent. No way they would have bought it and concealed it.

    A mythical missing patent?

    I can beat that.

.Fifty plus years ago , I read someone invented a car that could run on WATER.

The oil companies bought up the patent and burned it.

    So there!

LPG gas tanks are everywhere and motorists fill up their own cars with liquid petroleum gas. I don't know if it is more volatile than hydrogen.

iirc, hydrogen is more energetic. not sure about the volatility difference.

But thats still a good point. I wasnt aware of motorists filling their own LPG (at least, not in public). I dont fill LPG very often, but every time I have, someone who works where I fill it does it all. I guess this is not the norm everywhere then?
I kbow theres a few people (relatively) who drive LPG cars, but I was under the impression that they were customized that way, and that the folks who customized em have substantially more knowledge and experience regarding LPG safety than the average motorist.
But these are all assumptions based on my own limited perception.

I live in Aust where LPG cars are very common- nearly all taxis are. We don't have driveway attendants any more. the LPG system is mostly factory fitted now. Explosions are fairly uncommon here.

Is it water injection that you are talking about? It certainly improves mileage with LPG.

    Thats cool :)
I know a couple folks who modified their gasoline engines to run propane. Kinda wanna do it myself. We (in the US) have a lot of public transport vehicles (buses) that run on LPG andCNG, but not many privately owned rigs that do.

What is CNG? Coal seam natural gas? Petrol became very expensive here so LPG was a viable alternative. Please be careful doing your own gas mods.

CNG is Compressed Natural Gas (Methane). LPG is Liquified Petroleum Gas - propane and butane that liquify under pressure.

Thank you. Our CNG is piped from the oil fields and is for home cooking, heating and commercial uses (glass making, electricity generation, cement production, etc).

On a more realistic level, EPA anti-smog regulations reduce the fuel economy of diesel motors as much as 50%, which also doubles the co2 exhaust. The lose of efficiency is about 25 to 30% in gasoline motors currently. THE greatest "gas hog" and #1 source of co2 emissions is the E.P.A.

My own diesel truck for one. This is well known in the diesel and gasoline performance world and many manufacturers produce software and equipment to eliminate some or all of it. Virtually 4x4ers, racers, and even independent 18 wheeler owner/drivers know this. It isn't any secret.

How much these changes are made is largely dependent on the state. Florida has no vehicle inspections or tailpipe tests, so it is very popular to do here. For diesel pickups the fuel economy increases about 40% and horsepower more than doubles. For gasoline engines the increase in fuel economy is 25-30% and a 40% to 50% increase in horsepower, particularly if a turbocharged motor.

The EPA's policy is singularly to reduce exhaust pollution. This reduces engine power, meaning reducing efficiency, which means more fuel burned - equating to more co2. It is rather simple to understand.

The only way he wins reelection is to cheat or start a global war. The man is toast.

I bet you can't name even one Democrat at this time who could beat him?

The way that Hillary cheated Bernie out of the nomination has left divisions in the Democratic Party that will
not easily be healed by 2020.
