Once again, you failed. You are misapplying logic and allowing a continued voter disenfranchisement. The meme says it all.

Again, I disagree with a lot of what jcarl says, but I can vouch that he knows constitutional stuff pretty well. You're failing here. You should stop your mediocrity.

If you can't win the argument with your wit and intellect, you can always resort to memes.

    Good game. /ass slap

That's a good way to destroy our Republic. The House of Representatives would cease to be representative and look more like the Senate.

This is how millennials think. "I like this guy, and he says you are wrong, so you are wrong." I mean, in prior generations, we use knowledge and facts to determine that. The fact of the matter is, the constitution is a document that limits the powers of the federal government. The fact that neither of you know that, shows your education is extremely lacking. But, that's ok, snowflake. You don't need to know how the constitution works in your daily life. Just keep being ignorant; it won't hurt the rest of us. /shrug

As I understand this issue, so long as Democrats get to round up their voters into districts, Democrats are fine with the process. This is the California system.

But if Republicans do it, off to the Supreme court we go.

Bullshit. The reason this is going to the SCOTUS is because constituencies on both sides are fed up with it. The entrenched legislators won't change the way they do it (even though they have the option to have nonpartisan panels do it) so the only recourse the voters have is to take it to the SCOTUS.

My thinking, as a native CA who still lives here, what Democrats want is for the entire country to turn out like CA has. To welcome the illegals and make certain those are Democrats voters who voted despite not being citizens.

Here in CA, you should see how crazy it got once Democrats took charge.

Good! Then we agree; let's have nonpartisan panels handle this issue and stop letting the politicians choose their voters.

There are multiple lefties on this thread alone who have noted that gerrymandering is something that should be fought, even if it occurs in a place like California. But you go ahead and ignore them.

And if the SC does not agree with you? Then what?

I am not clear what we are agreeing to. Frankly, and I have indeed looked into this topic during the past 20 years, I am not positive I have taken a position on this issue. All I know is about my state and the gerrymandered map is proof enough of misdeeds by Democrats.

Do you agree that the republicans and democrats can't be trusted to impartially form congressional districts?

Try to figure out a new way of measuring and dealing with partisan gerrymandering.

Where does the Constitution say your political views get equal protection? The courts have ruled that the districts must be a closely as possible matched for the number of people living in each, but nothing as to party. Even more confusing however is the courts saying that you cannot use race to determine districts and at the same time must consider race when determining districts, there is another thread I created on just this subject. It's up to the state legislature and it's up to the people to elect the legislature and if they don't like the way they do it vote them out.

If not the state legislature, the representative of the people of the state, to do it then who and how?

So how do you determine districts then and who does it?
