Punishing illegal alien criminals doesn't seem to work very well, however, punishing "the jurisdictions that attempt to shield them from justice" should work very well. It's their decision to shield criminal aliens, they should be held to account for those decisions in Civil Court by the victims families. To raise the stakes I would say that their public position shouldn't shield them from being held liable personally. Why should the taxpayers have to pay for their malfeasance when they have no skin in the game. So if a Police Chief or Sheriff decides to shield a criminal alien and that alien kills someone, they can be sued for their personal possessions like houses, cars and pensions. If they believe their own rhetoric, then they shouldn't have a problem with it. I'm sure those misunderstood hard working Criminals won't let them down.....will they?

If you can't hit them with a legal book, hit them in their checkbook.

YES!!! Absolutely. Let them be liable for their dangerous decisions. Maybe they'll stop knowingly putting Americans at risk for their feelings if they can be held accountable.

Rounding up illegals is ICE's job, not your local mayor's

Agree, but aiding and abetting isn't the mayors job either.

What would really help is if victims could sue the illegal's employer and landlord.

Who said anything about rounding up anyone? To have them in custody and let them go so ICE has to go out and getting 'em is such a grand waste of money. Maybe they'll raise your taxes to do so.

They should sue ICE for not doing their job. The cities are not responsible for enforcing immigration law.

What do you think they are doing to enforce immigration law?

That is largely factual. In cases like the news where the judge or whoever it was kept ICE agents at bay outside the courtroom while they snuck the illegal out, I think you would have a better argument for that than say having a heating assistance program that doesn't ask for citizenship information that goes to a house with an illegal alien.

The No Sanctuary for Criminals Act requires the state and local police to help round them up.

If the No Sanctuary for Criminals Act passes the Senate and is signed by the President local authorities will be required to do whatever ICE tells them to do, including demanding proof of citizenship from people. In short, you better start carrying your birth certificate with you every time you encounter the state or local government because we are going to have to start presenting our papers like it is communist Russia in due course.

You act like I'm supposed to care negatively whether the victims families of criminal illegals aliens sue the sanctuary city officials. Or whether criminal aliens that re-enter the US after being deported get thrown in jail for 5 to 25 years. I abide by the law and always have, the last brush with the law I've had was a speeding ticket 20 years ago.
