The obvious takeaway is that the current GOP has veered off so far right that they more resemble a terrorist crime organization catering to Oligarchs and Fascists than a legitimate American political party. That being said, the Democratic party needs to embrace their Progressive roots and agendas and stop being Republican light. Bernie Sanders sounded more like and resembled Eisenhower than he did a modern day Democrat and the current GOP sounds nothing like Eisenhower nor do they resemble him in any imaginable way.

Only a fool would deny a man the right to work without joining a union.

Funny how UAW tried to Unionize in Tennessee, and the workers told them to kick rocks, by ya it's all the GOP's fault.

They did not deserve the vote and Trump lied to get voters on board. People are desperate and ill-informed and it just further proves that my post is right on the money

Only a fool state would not have a right to work law. If you want to join a union fine, but dont force someone that doesnt want to to join.

"Your party"??? It doesn't sound like her party is the Democratic Party. It sounds more like she rejects both parties, as do I.

The Scandinavian countries plus France plus others have no minimum wage (don't you like that!). They have laws providing that wages are set by collective bargaining and allow freedom to form and join unions, and they have laws banning anti-union activities and laws. And their economies are no worse than ours, and in many cases they're better.

You're the one who's desperate and ill-informed. They deserved the vote because Hillary didn't bother to campaign in union states due to her arrogance of taking them for granted. You're hardly a judge of what people deserve.

+220,000 Jobs in June; Record 153,168,000 Employed
The Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics also said the number of employed Americans -- which set records in February, March and April -- set another record in June, at 153,168,000 employed.

And the number of Americans not in the labor force -- after four straight monthly gains – dropped a bit to 94,813,000.

You have to bring Trump down or this kind of job growth might snowball Democrats out of national power for many years to come.
What did Hillary run on? Nothing - no message - nothing but more of the same 'you didn't build that crap' as Obama, and gender politics. Hillary is incapable of telling the truth - she chokes on it like a true Clinton.

Unions have outlived their usefulness. You had to go back all the way to Eisenhower. There are right to work states now and they are doing fine. Unions don't promote productivity. They cost too much. They would rather promote on seniority rather than merit which is what teachers' unions do. They protect the lazy and the bad. They donate to Democrats even though you might be a Republican. When they get a raise, it is the consumer who has to pay for it. The list is endless. We don't need them anymore.

When the uber rich get raises does not the consumer pay for that as well? Why do lower and middle income people feel only the uber rich should get all the pie that they baked?

Ike was no saint and made mistakes like any.

The fact is no one stops workers from joining a union but it is a two way street. Employers have the right to stop unionization of the employees they hire and pay.

this is why unions attempt various means of enforcing unionization on people who do not want it.

And in the interest of true equality instead of the current double standard, businesses should also be allowed to form unions and use exactly the same tactics. Just being fair, and surely you support that.

I heard on the radio the idea of privatizing government services. Excellent. Let's privatize so that there aren't any more government unions demanding pensions. Just sign up a private entity to fill up positions and if the workers unionize and bankrupt the entity then just fold that entity and fire all the workers. A new company without a union will go in to fill their place.

They already have and it's called a Plutocracy and Citizens United is comparable to paying dues. Not the point of the thread though.

"right to work"..another right wing propaganda bull-**** phrase.
Make as much sense and as effective for the working class as trickle down voodoo.

Unions are nothing more than method to extort higher wages than an occupation would command in an open and free labor market.

People shouldn't be paid more for their labor than what their labor is worth. To pay more than the market price for labor makes everyone else poorer.

I see you have no understanding of how unions work, other than what they may have told you. They lied.

Well I offer you the standard right wing/republican response in such a case: "let him find a job somewhere else where he'll be happier."

Unions kinda shot themselves in the foot paying ditchdiggers $50 an hour. The only folks that hire union anymore are the ones with unlimited access to cash- govt and monopolistic mega-corps.

And both of them always end up paying with our tax money anyway.

I've worked alongside enough union crews to lose all respect for them as laborers. Sure, they're skilled and well trained, but they're lazy as fuq, more than half of them are 'supervisors' and they completely ignore all the safety regulations that their bosses lobbied for to make their govt contracts impossible for smaller businesses to compete with. ...except for their union breaks, of course.
