This is little more than a flame bait thread. The fact is, I personally know many college grads that are dumb as a stump. Just look at the young college kids that are ask questions on the "man on the street" interviews. I would trust them to pick out a T-shirt, let alone who might represent me in Congress.

My dad framed custom homes. He has built homes for several professional sports figures and his work has been featured in home magazines several times over the years. He managed to employ 4-10 people for that 50 years. Crew size fluctuated because of employee dependability and behaviour issues. He had to hire and fire people while considering their behaviour and their talent. He had to study a blueprint for how hard it would be to build and negotiate with the builder and submit a bid to compete with other contractors. He ordered the lumber for 10000 square foot homes without waste, managed to frame complex roofs and ceilings from blueprints, and did this while compensating for foundations that were not perfectly built. He handled the extra tax reporting burdens of employing people and he networked with builders to keep his employees working and even arranged with other contractors to hire his employees between projects. I doubt most college snowflakes could handle his job.

How about a more common sense approach?

Requiring one to pay taxes in order to vote. Why should someone with no 'skin in the game' get to vote?

Of course, if that were the case, Dems would never sniff another election win

That's a lot of BS....how much political indoctrination did he go through to get that? It is good insurance, however, that he was tought to think just like "dear old dad!"

It could be applied fairly, just use the same citizenship test for naturalization. No one has argued that test is biased. But I'm pretty sure Ronstar is only interested in finding some demographic that reliably votes Democrat and giving him the vote.

So, you must think the millions of Hispanic illegal aliens, without much education, that vote in places like California need to be barred?

If they are not citizens, they should not have the right to vote. My view.

I don't like the way Republicans vote but I would NEVER advocate that their RIGHT to vote be taken away.

Republicans realize that there just aren't enough of them to hold power if everyone who is legally allowed to vote does so...and that's where threads like this...and voter suppression laws comes from

No...threads like this...and particularly THIS thread, comes from the left. Ronstar is one of your guys, and this thread is an expression of his frustration that people who don't think like him are allowed a vote. So he wants to disenfranchise the working class. Don't try to pin this on Republicans.

I'd support a take-home test issued a few months before voting day. The questions on the test would be about how the federal, state, and local governments operate, defining the function of the three branches of government, and matching candidates with their stated policy positions. Open book, internet research allowed, collaboration would be highly encouraged. The point is not to exclude anyone except the ignoramus who can't be bothered understanding anything about the matters he is entitled to vote on.

Higher intelligence is worthless in a materialist society. All that education is useless if it cannot be used or rewarded financially. In the ghetto where I live, I have known kids who dropped out of school because they saw how useless my two degrees were. They said, why go through all that education and sacrifice if there is to be no reward after all that effort?

People have told me they admire me for all my academic successes. (Some are aware that I am partly learning disabled which means that I had to work twice as hard as anyone else to succeed academically. Mind you that I had to work while going to school. No freebies or giveaways for me.) "Big deal" is my reply. I succeeded in wasting my life's savings on a useless education that enrich wealthy university trustees but remains of no benefit to me. And there are tens of thousands of people out there who are in the same situation.

I imagine the folks in the military, brave people that put their lives on the line daily so you CAN vote would have something to say about your idiotic idea. One thing a degree will not ensure is common sense.

    Why stop there?

Set a minimum income requirement because poor folks don't pay enough taxes and therefore have little skin in the game.

Ban those with political party affiliations because they lack objectivity.

Ban those with a religious affiliation because they place a so called higher power above government.

Ban women ... because .... uhhh .... because they don't have enough self control to stop texting while driving?
