Happens all the time Daniel. Where I work I would say at least 50% of the black employees are racist and the other 50% lean that way. A couple of them are powder kegs and could blow at any minute. The whites are majority racist, most are like the O'Jays song " they smile in your face; backstabbers. I'm the one white guy who drives them nuts because I wear my "Make America Great Hat" at work which drives the Mexicans to swear I'm racist. I have a Trump bumper sticker on my pick-up truck hoping someone will blow it up so I can collect the insurance. (Just kidding) I speak my mind and it's interesting to watch and listen to them tippy-toe around the conversation as they are so afraid of being accused as a racist. That is what the American workplace has become. It is almost impossible to have a civil and honest conversation about race in this country. Everyone says one thing but means something else.

that is not the question. The question is should he be fired because you don't want him near your work if he does his job well and keeps his politics from impacting your workday. It does not bode well for freedom, when we endorse termination as a weapon against political protest.

I actually know Top Dog quite well, and it isn't a restaurant. It is basically a hot dog stand. There's one employee at any one time and you order what you want and he/she puts it on the stove along with the bun to toast it. He hands it to you and you turn around and put your toppings on by yourself. There are no seats. You put your toppings on and leave.

Don't get too excited but it is a good bet that someone near you has Nazi leanings and you don't even know it.

The latest double standard: for your job's sake, it's better to be a violent left winger than a violent right winger.

If he were in my employ, I would fire him pronto. If I found out that he was a co-worker, I would quit if he were to remain. As a Jewish person and an American, my tolerance for an ideology with such a despicable agenda is a no go.

    Yup.

Further, the assumption that his mere presence at a rally to save a statue constitutes anything other than this slightest intent is highly questionable.

Well if I do not know I cannot act upon it. Living and working in NY does not place me in very close proximity to Nazis on a daily basis.

But of course, they would not feel that comfortable airing their scummy views in this neck of the woods too freely.

lets put it this way. For much of my working life, I would have run a much greater risk of being fired by my boss, for marching for gay rights or same sex marriage, than my opponents would have for standing with Anita Bryant or the moral majority. I still did it, and I did not get fired, because my employer either did not know I marched, or felt it was none of his business what I did off the clock. I kept paying my 730 dollars child support regularly so that my kids had a roof, and clothes and meals, while I used my right to speak up and get counted on the issues of the day. I cannot use my right, free of the fear my family will be economically compromised, if I do not allow the bigots the same right now that my views are more popular than theirs.

That requires that businesses leave their employees personal lives, out of their business decision, and insist that co-workers do the same thing.

I guess your right. I stayed in Brooklyn for six months and never met a Nazi, a lot of Jewish folks and a couple Mafia types.

Then why can Google fire a guy for having a opinion contrary to their own?

My parent's home is in Brooklyn surrounded by many Jewish communities that range from Sephardic, Ashkenazy, Hassidic, Orthodox, etc. Not too much room for Nazis here and they would quickly become claustrophobic. There are many Muslims and no issues with that, but a Nazi would be an entirely different ball game

I don't think you have any concept of what the word Nazi means to a Jewish person if you question my feelings and opinion on the issue.

We're not just talking civil law. We're talking a criminal code, which means the owner can be sent to prison over this. Then the civil litigation is what is going to net this guy a bit more than the minimum wage he was probably earning before all of this.

The damn thing is, this is like a blast from the past because I did go to Cal so I know that area quite well. The owner is (or was) a german migrant who made his own sausages and he was the only guy I ever saw behind the counter. He didn't speak good English, but he knew how to tell a kielbasa from a bratwurst.

Now my old hot dog stand is in the frickin' news!!!

No I don't think an employer should be forced to keep an HIV positive employee
    a physical danger to others.

As far as the case at hand, the man fired broke no laws.
His politics are his affairs, not the employers.
