And Boy Howdy as Trump done a great job changing the trajectory of the National Debt since Obama finally left. Debt down, GDP UP. 8 years of Dems and the Government Class claiming that more debt means more GDP. I think maybe they like all that debt because of all the opportunities it creates for graft. Making America Great Again!
Looks like we have more cherry-picking. How about we start with the original economic indicator used in the thread and the one you used last: GDP growth. Try mapping it out over all of Obama's presidency and tell us what, precisely, is so unusual about the first two quarters of Trump's presidency?
That Obama never managed to turn in a 3% growth year? The first American President since 1948 to fail to do so? Actually, I think that's true. Obama ended with $16,716.2B So if Trump can get us $17,217.7B by the end of the year, he nail it in his first year. Wouldn't that be great! Certainly Obama was a lot better at generating Federal Debt than he was GDP.
You put me in a group with billionaires and those connected to government and sure, our GDP per capita looks great, which doesn't help me one bit. The wealthy and the government class have done very well under Obama, the rest of us, not so much. Under Trump we will spread the results of the recovery around a little bit more. It's time for the rest of the country to recover.
Dollar Index plummeted again today. https://www.bloomberg.com/quote/DXY:CUR The Index is now at it's lowest point in over 2 1/2 years. Thanks (mostly) Trump...you macroeconomic moron.
BTW, since March 1, even the DOW is not doing all that well as it has gone up just over 3% in over 6 months. And before you novices say that sounds good...it ain't. 6% per year is no big deal...especially considering the really low interest rates and the fact that QE is still going on (even though the Fed no longer calls it that). So not only is the economy stagnating (at only about 2.1% GDP growth so far this year) and the jobs numbers mediocre (the last BLS report was flat out lousy when you actually read the numbers behind the headlines). Those of you Trumpbots who think he is doing a masterful job so far - guess again. And yes, he has taken FULL credit for the economy since the day he took office...so this mediocre (at best) economy is his responsibility - like it or not.
If it's data posted by Zorro, you can bet it's goal is to somehow deceive. GDP and JOBS indeed have been steady.
Another nonsensical guess from a faceless nobody. And you are DEAD WRONG. A) I am not a liberal, B) I have been an investor for over 20 years - it is my career and I have worked for no one but myself throughout that time (can you honestly say that?) - I DEFINITELY have a portfolio and C) I hate no one. You stated three things that were totally wrong within one statement. It is easy to tell foolish/'challenged' people. They make matter-of-fact statements when they have ZERO evidence or proof of the validity of said statements. Which you just did. I guarantee your next statement to me will be similarly filled with erroneous statements that you call facts that are nothing but childish/simplistic guesses/generalizations.
Again, as been shown several times now, you guys aren't even comparing the same thing. It is like me comparing the highest grade I made in a single class to someone else's overall GPA. The same thing happened 8 times while Obama was president.
I am not a fan of GWB, Obama or Trump as POTUS's (I think they all did/are doing horrible jobs - for different reasons)...but how EXACTLY did Obama 'fix' the Great Recession'?
You are free to believe what ever left wing crapola you'd like. The Mean GDP growth rate speaks for itself.
I'm further to the right on economics than Trump is. You are comparing mean GDP to Trump's highest quarter of GDP.
In three simple steps: First, he ordered the military to enlist the alternatively lifestyled with a "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy. Second, he cast away any political goodwill from across the aisle by disregarding any Republican input in ramming through Obamacare without any Republican support. Third, he made tremendous improvements to the national infrastructure with numerous "shovel-ready" projects.
Now you are getting it! He hasn't been in office long enough for a legitimate, honest comparison of GDP.
We had one of our country's longest periods of growth and longest bull markets when Obama was president. I don't credit him for it, but those are the facts.
