I celebrate Christmas, I have no issue with someone wishing me a happy Holiday as there are many holidays this time of year and I understand why a business woudl choose to do so, can put up a sign saying happy holidays in November and it's good all the way to January

Personally I don't care either but I don't like the overall movement to usurp Christmas with "all the holidays". Christmas is the big one and Christianity is what our culture was founded on and is based on, or at least used to be. Returning Christmas to it's rightful position is a positive for society.

 

most people do not see Christmas as a Christian holiday, now Christmas eve many do celebrate as a Christian holiday, Christmas day not so much

Jan 1st is the Feast of the Circumcision, many Christians do not see that as a religious day either

they have become generic holidays all Americans can enjoy

 

Christmas is not a single night or a single day, it is a season. A period to celebrate the birth of Christ and to try to be extra Christian so to speak.

Example, Nov 13th is not a day for merry Christmas, but saying Happy Holidays woudl be appropriate

He said it but he didn't coin the phrase as you earlier implied. The war on Christmas has been going on for decades, Trump just decided to fight back.

I said nothing about him coining/originating the phrase - nor did I think he did. I am quite sure in the entire history of humankind (since the 'invention' of Christmas) that someone must have said the phrase before this year.

Just the fact that the OP title indicated that Trump had said such a phrase at all - in apparent seriousness - was the reason for my 'concern'.

......now HOW in anyone's imagination that would chip away at societies values....society should value everyone NOT just people YOU approve of...
