:) If it was an endorsement of Christianity you would think Christians would be embarrassed by it, the gluttony, over spending, greed, football watching to celebrate Jesus' birth, all the greed, the stress , greed, domestic violence, drunkenness, Black Friday( a retailer's greedy dream come true) the opening to that CHRISTmas holiday....

    Let 'em claim it........:roflol:

Before I knew Christ as my Savior, I did sometimes tell people to go to hell. Funny, I was headed there myself. I never tell anyone they are going to hell now that I know what it is about. In fact, I don't know factually about anyone's situation other than myself. I never tell anyone they need to celebrate Christmas. I have a niece that is a Christian. She doesn't celebrate for "religous reasons". We honor that. I celebrate so that the world may know him. I send presents to kids around the world thru "Operation Christmas Child". Does that burn you up?

are you asking where human rights come from? not from a God, from the people of a society, sadly sometimes society decides badly, and when they do, no God comes to the rescue, good people seeing that it is wrong, try to change things for the better and hopefully with time that changes

Have a brother in law that is Jewish. He does the same. To my sister and me, it is an event that can make known the Gospel of Jesus to those that would look for it. Is that religious? I don't think of it as such.

Here's my take without delving into MY "SPIRITUALITY." I was born with certain rights. So was everyone else. If those rights are taken away, they are in violation. That is precisely why Patrick Henry said "Give me Liberty or Give me death". That isi why my own ancestor coined the phrase "live free or die". Did I phrase that in a way as to be non-offensive to some atheists?

good way to look at it, that way you are not upset at all the people that do not celebrate the same way you do, enough suffering in the world, no need to create our own internal suffering over something we can't control

in fact if you want to put out a baby Jesus decoration in your front yard, go far it - the line is not crossed until one uses tax payer land to display their religious propaganda, but refuse to allow others the same right to do so because their beliefs differ - all or none

you are born with the rights society has given you, in some societies people born black had less rights then those born white, because some believed they had a God given right to own slaves per the bible, as an example

now there are rights as a civilized society you and I think we all should have, but sadly not all societies have agreed

To define "civilized society" one must have a moral anchor. My moral anchor tells me all life is precious and should be protected. Abortion would be used only to protect the life of the mother. The "moral anchor" (and I don't know if it is an anchor or not) of Germany, legalized necrophilia. My moral anchor tells me that is not civilized.

Those who are born with black skin, are not any different than lighter complected when it comes to unalienable rights. If you want to talk about the Bible, I can do that. It is a fact that people twist it's words, take it out of context, and use it to their advantage. That is not to serve the purpose of God. Something that must be noted.... At the time racial slavery began, the percentage of literacy was pretty small. To make matters worse, the majority of the illiterate were forced to depend on "priests" to read them the Word of God. Those Holy Scriptures were usually available only in Latin. My wife's ancestor, John Rogers was burned at the stake for translating those very words into common language. Foxes Book of Martyrs is filled with such examples. Evil men used religion (and some still do) to gain power and just to appear lofty. Now that the Holy Scriptures were made available for everyone to read, Men of Faith strived for years to abolish slavery. It was done. Evil men resisted behind a mask of faith.

I do think a educated society is more likely to be civil, public schools have done much to advance America in that area

I also agree, the bible can be interpreted many ways, some good, some bad - really depends on the one doing the interpreting

    Thomas Jefferson was "home schooled".
Honestly, It has been my experience that people from all over the world, all walks of life, who read the entire Bible diligently and introspectively, who bathe their reading with prayer and ask God to reveal to them His Truth......those folks come up with interpretations that mesh beautifully. Sometimes there are different emphasis. Sometimes there are different "revelations". Iron sharpens iron.

usually people that read the bible were educated to read.... so more proof to the point

before reading, people learned form camp fire stories, which of course sometimes are created by people like Trump that can tell some pretty big Alternative facts

Trump's waging war on the war on Christmas.

It's gonna be a magnificent victory, you are going to love it! You will be knocking back the eggnog, wondering "why the hell am I so happy?" Then you will remember, "Trump won the war on the war on Christmas!"

How do you even think to fabricate such nonsense? Just relax, Trump's going to win this war on the war on Christmas and you are going to be fabulously happy and can wish anyone well or not, however you want!

Nothing is easier than proving the fallibility of man.

That said, the spirit and reality of Christmas is still a good thing.

People used to hunker down in caves to celebrate it, and its not going away, not even in the former USSR.

    That must infuriate you.

Oh, like, if you like your insurance you can keep it, or if you like your doctor you can keep him, or it was about a video, or like scrub it with a cloth or something??
