It's allowed in the bible. Of course it's just a custom. Nothing immoral about it if one hears Gods words in their heads.
The Laws of Noach are part of the laws of Christianity and Islam. Almost every Jew, Christian, and Muslim knows these laws.
Christians follow no biblical laws. It won't do squat for them to get to the promised utopia. And very few will know those Noah laws.
Says me and every other person who is not a psychopath. You've either got bad wiring or you have experienced some terrible trauma that makes you unable to sympathize with your fellow man.
Actually you can say it whether you have a theological background or not, seeing it is self-evidently true. utterly irrelevant to the proposition that morality is universal. And properly so, seeing that's precisely what you did. It has been clear from the start that you're coming from a state of confusion. If it's your digestive capacity that led you to conclude I came within lightyears of condoning slavery, I'll pass. Both, obviously. You're welcome. Everyone with a lick of sense. You're welcome. The only "people" who truly believe it's OK to torture children for fun are unworthy to be called human beings. You get that, right?
Awww did I hurt ur whittle fewings with facts? Do you need a safe space? They have teddy bears! Yeah, you are totally right, anyone who would think that’s ok is ****ed up scum. Doesn’t make what I said any less true. You’re “unworthy to be called human” doesn’t somehow change the fact that their morals are different then yours. Hence the problem with the whole question of morality. There are no universal morals, thus morality doesn’t exist.
Please point out where I said it was ok? I said no such thing and agree with your position that anyone who would think that’s ok is scum deserving of death. It seems you and that other guy were to slow or lacked basic common sense to understand the point I was making and instead made the absolutely idiotic assumption that I was somehow defending that and thus choose to attack me. Which is just pretty stupid on your part but it’s not like was expecting much out of... well... someone like you.
It is immoral to YOU and to me and to many many many members of society. But you cannot deny that there are people out there who would disagree which is the whole point. Morals are not universal. Thus they are fictional. Your morals do not reflect the morals of the person next to you no matter how obsessed with them you are. Of course you are using a very extreme example because that’s all you can do, but this goes for basically anything that can be thought of. No 2 people out of the 7 billion on this earth share the exact same 100% identical moral beliefs. Again this whole thing seems to have gone way over your head and rather then just acknowledge that you’ve decide to just attack me or whatever, which again was just dumb because I never said what you are claiming.
I don't deny it. I think those people out there are either immoral, or they are psychopaths, or perhaps both. But crimes against humanity are reviled in every culture. Right-thinking and right-feeling Germans, perhaps we can say especially right thinking Germans, found Hitler repulsive and are ashamed to this day for the atrocities committed in his name. I met an old Frenchman on a train who remembered German soldiers weeping in embarrassment and shame for their occupation of France. Obviously there are subcultures composed of immoral people. Birds of a feather ....
So you admit (though I suspect you did so unwittingly) that you understand there are people out there with different morals then your own, thus you admit that morals aren’t universal, which again is the entire point of this discussion which you seem to not be able to fully comprehend and instead are raging about wanting to torturing animals or some stupid **** like that.
Thus we are right back to my proposition that morality is taught and not universal or relative, they are taught by parents and society that one grew up in. Most people who abuse their children were themselves abused when young...they grow up thinking that is just how it is. I found it funny that most leftist on here condemned the Phillipines practice of offering bounties on drug dealers. But support middle eastern refugees and sharia law that calls for gays to be thrown off rooftops. Adultering women to be stoned to death.
Orthodox Christians have many more Laws then Orthodox Jews. Catholics also have many Laws. All these Laws contain the Seven Laws of Noah in them.
There are some distinctions, but people worldwide generally abhor the same things the majority in the USA do, partucularly wanton cruelty, and they call them "wrong."
Yeah I'm just dumb, that's it. But I am not "attacking" you. I maintained that if you do not find cruelty to be immoral, regardless of what others in other cultures think, then you are flawed. I repeat, however, that there is a word for "wrong" in all cultures, and they more or less concur on what it means. The distinctions from one to the next are minor. It's why the Syrians are rejoicing at the defeat of ISIS.
The poll asks whether morality is universal, not whether everyone agrees on what is moral. Those are two different questions.
Those are churches. But to get to a promised land, there are no laws to follow. To get kicked out of the man made religion, sure.
No, you exposed yourself with lies. On the contrary, the two ideas are mutually exclusive, as anyone with a lick of sense can see. What you're conveniently forgetting, of course, is that morality has no meaning outside the human sphere; so whatever passes for morals in whatever passes for the mind of such a creature has nothing to do with morality. Please, you didn't understand a word I said. who the hell cares
