Well, I can support her on that, but there’s no need for a diversity lottery. There are more than enough intelligent and productive people all over the world, highly educated with worthy skill sets who are also interested in coming here.

I think capitalism has to be managed or it will not naturally create a middle class. For human nature will overpower what we call the free market. It will corrupt it, and greedy men have always done this. An unfetter capitalism plus human nature yields monopoly. The rich businessmen buy politicians to stifle competition when the rich and powerful cannot do that themselves. Look at the history of capitalism, the robber barons. The free market is just a concept, and has never existed, for the rich and powerful are not always served by it. When they are not served by it, they will corrupt it. If a shortage of labor drives up their labor costs, they will import labor via HB1 visas, while claiming they cannot find american workers, even if there are plenty here with the skills. This is how it works in the real world.

Capitalism needs safety nets. For it is seldom that all workers are needed to supply goods and services. With no place for a certain percentage of unemployed workers, safety nets are essential, unless we want to see families starve. I could go on and on. I embrace many of the social values cons have but then FDR dems used to hold those same values.

 

If we have to go "back" to Africa, you have to go back to Europe. This country really actually belongs to Native Americans.

The only thing I disagree with FDR on is inflation and the fed. He supported the federal reserve which just created the great depression. Then as the solution to the depression he supported giving even more power to the fed to create even more money. He was retarded on some things. His foreign policy sucked as well.

It is this ridiculous "I am America" mentality, and complete and total lack of knowledge of the history of this country that amazes me. The entirety of what is america today is the melting pot of not just immigrants, but of the culture they brought with them.

Diversity for the sake of diversity is a bad idea. Giving jobs, or spots in Ivy League schools to less qualified people just for the sake of diversity hurts the hiring organization, and lowers the quality of the Ivy League schools. Now I am a firm believer that companies and schools should not discriminate based on sex, religion, race, etc., but lowing standards so that less qualified people can get in to meet some artificial race/sex quota isn't the solution. This country was founded with equality of opportunity in mind, not equality of outcome. If liberals have it their way, the short story Harrison Bergeron will become a reality.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't you who claimed "we founded America" earlier in this thread? That would strongly suggest it's your country by definition.
