With the tax cut bill not even on the books, but pretty certain to get passed, the GOP turns its attention to "reform" of Medicare, Medicaid, and welfare:

    http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/06/politics/paul-ryan-entitlement-reform/index.html

"Washington (CNN)The House GOP caucus plans to work on entitlement reform next year as a way to "tackle the debt and the deficit," according to House Speaker Paul Ryan."

Now, that's rich, after just adding at least $1 trillion to the deficit, all of a sudden the debt and deficit is important again? Why didn't we hear concerns about the debt and deficit during the propaganda push for the tax "reform" (i.e. cuts for the rich) bill?

Of course, everybody except Trump fans already knew that this was coming. Actually, most Trump fans probably knew it too, they were just too happy to lie for their president to make it appear that Medicare, SS etc, won't be touched.

    And then there's this:

Ryan: "We think it's important to get people from welfare to work," Ryan said. "We have a welfare system that's basically trapping people in poverty and effectively paying people not to work, and we've got to work on that."

Here we go, GOP speak for cutting people off welfare so they will be given opportunity to pull themselves up on their own bootstraps. But, the rich few % will have a bit more money they can stash overseas or use for stock buybacks. You can't make this stuff up.

so your stance is that you object to creating more jobs and having people on welfare working as opposed to sitting at home. When more people are working there is more revenue to help pay Obamas staggering debt off. Once we get the debt back to where it was before he took over.. you know the number he himself said was irresponsible and unpatriotic maybe we can ease up on paying our debt off, until then...the party is over, time for lazy people to get off their asses and get to work.

I don't object to creating more jobs at all.

I object to the notion that the low labor force participation rate is because people are lazy collecting welfare, rather than because there are not enough jobs for the amount of people looking for one.

I also object to letting people starve when they have been let down by the system rather than giving them a helping hand.

So not only do the middle class and poor get almost nothing from these tax cuts (and in a lot of cases they LOSE money)...now the Republicans are going to make that same middle class and poor PAY for those tax cuts for corporations and the rich

The poor don’t pay federal income taxes, or what they do pay is minuscule. So there goes that BS line for you.

The forum has a search function. Be my guest.

In any case, not sure what illegals have to do with this topic.

Anyone that thinks this tax plan is good is either very, very rich or a fool. The typical scenario is that there will be a small jump for about 5 years and then the bottom falls out....big.

Wait, I thought the illegals were the ones on welfare? To answer your question to someone else, yes I do if they are working.

    That's right.

Please explain to us why its better to keep people on welfare than to move them off welfare.

The only folks on welfare are the Wall Street/donor/"job creator" class.

This had to be looked at sooner or later, we spend far too much on "entitlements".

    Yeah?

How much of the taxes that poor people don't pay in the first place go towards that?

Privatized gains versus socialized losses for the Wall Street bankster class
Internalized profits versus externalized risk and expense for the "job creator" class
Socialism for the aristocracy versus laissez-faire capitalism for the masses
