All true. Having said that, there's something peculiarly delicious about Americans and their odd fetish for faux antiques. From a purely psychological perspective, it's a very interesting phenomenon.

On the one hand, you have people who clearly prefer classical furnishings, yet they can't tolerate ... classical furnishings! It's like some sort of complete misunderstanding of the whole thing. I've seen many examples of entire houses furnished in faux antiques, and found it astounding, to say the least. I knew a woman who loved such cheesy pieces, and I once asked her if she liked a particular antiques centre (which was near her home, and housed many different specialist traders). She'd not only never been there, but didn't know it existed. This is what I mean by 'complete misunderstanding'. It's as though they don't recognise that the cheesy fakes they love, are bad copies of something real. They seem to regard the faux antique as a look of its own, and are oblivious to the source inspiration. I'm sure this odd phenomenon exists all over the world - and god knows, they love the stuff in Asia - but one doesn't expect to see such crassness in a rich nation, with ready access to actual antiques. And it's not as though the fake stuff is cheaper, because very often it's considerably more! I recently bought a stunning, 5' high 1880's English-made mahogany chest of 7 drawers for $190. Saw a (bad) fake version online for $1500.

I did not understand anti colonialist at first until I observed Obama's foreign policy

Trump wrote a "condolence" letter to a grieving mother that focused more on his attempts to bang her and his record with women than showing any actual sympathy over the deceased. There is no comparison.

Now, it has been said that in private, he does exhibit both class and manners, but we don't get to see him in private. In public, he takes on this act of being a beer drinking construction worker, which apparently he paid lots of attention to over the years, which helped him out greatly when he was giving his stump speeches and trying to appeal to ordinary working people. So he is a decent actor, and pulled this off very well, unlike hillary who tried to be one of the people she was making a speech to in the south. She came across as faking it, as being plastic, and it stood out like a sore thumb.

Obama could exhibit class, as long as he was reading from his telepromptor. And given this class was coming from a black feller, it had more power than if it was coming from a white guy. He did bring dignity to that office, after remembering Pres Bush dodging that shoe thrown at him by some muslim. But I have to congratulate pres bush for being a great dodger, and he must have been really good at dodge ball when he was growing up. Fast on his feet. Or fast on his head.

If class means acting and looking presidential, it's Obama hands down. Trump is an uncouth, obnoxious, thin skinned, egotistical, unpresidential president. I can't stand his 5 year old temper tantrums via twitter or his calling others names like a 3 year old whose parents forgot to teach him any manners.

Policy wise, we'll see. I prefer his appointment of Gorsuch to the SCOTUS over Obama's appointments. But that is about all as legislative wise, there haven't been much legislative wise come to think of it. Policy wise, ask me that in another 3 years for a more informed answer.

Oh, I would not disagree with that. And to think there are women out there which were fine with his grabbing, because of his wealth. Which is why he noted reality in the first place.

I thought the funniest part of his campaign was when he misquoted the bible in one of his speeches. I literally rolled on the floor with laughter. I still did not vote for him. lol What I do like about him, is he is more genuine, whether you like that or not, than anyone who has held that office in a long time. Carter was a genuine christian, while trump is a genuine rascal. And he does not try to hide it. Besides of what he campaigned on, this was another reason people liked him, even if what is, is not admirable. Something about him just seems more genuine, instead of faked. He has so little filter. He is what he is, and cannot hide it. And I understand why some people detest him, yet have not understood how he can be so, irrationally hated as he is. The level of hatred I have seen on just this forum, defies reason. And yet, he has been able to get inside these heads and consume them. And that says a lot. Not a good thing, but it says a lot, and more about the haters than about trump. I think future books will be written, not about trump, but of the power he had over other people, his haters, and his ability to totally consume their waking consciousness. Mind control.
