So that's what Putin is doing? The fiend!

The British Chief of the Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, said that Russia could ‘catastrophically’ damage the British economy by severing underwater communiations cables and so cutting Britain off from the internet? According to the BBC, Peach ‘said Nato had prioritised the protection of the cables “in response to the threat posed by the modernisation of the Russian navy, both nuclear and conventional submarines and ships”.’

The BBC then quotes Conservative MP Rishi Sunak as saying that an attack on the underwater cables would pose an ‘existential threat to our security.’

Nothing new in this, I think. A former naval officer speaking on the radio recently said that back in the "old" cold war days it was not uncommon for the Soviet Union to cut underwater cables to the US SOSUS network when a Russian sub was preparing to leave its base and sail. It put the SOSUS system out of action for up to to a month at a time, leaving NATO blind, he claimed.

It seems pretty obvious that these days that if the new cold war was to materially worsen, or a hot war breakout, then the internet is going to be an early and significant target, not just in the UK but elsewhere too.

It needs to create a bad PR for Putin among those who are Internet addicted. There is no need to cut the cables and shooting down all the sattelites in case of war. Nuclear war means destruction of the civilization. We wouldn't have the possibility to get energy, to work in the new environment and most probably we wouldn't have enough specialists remaining alive to organize the basic level of living comparable to modern North Korea. So even if all the Internet infrastructure remains uncut we wouldn't have a use of it just because there would be only a dozen of users, who won't have any free time in a routine trying to get food.

with all the foreign outsourcing we are doing, other countries control our information, that would not be good

then again, maybe it would be a wake up call to bring those jobs back home

corporations would be in a panic

This will never happen. If Internet is destroyed rich Russians will lose access to their overseas accounts.

Let them Brits worry about their own safety because at the end of the day they are the ones who caused all this by the false flag, right? You'd probably be in a bunker somewhere around Moscow built in cold war anyways...
