If Democrats vote the bill down, the move would hold undeniable risks. Ten Senate Democrats are running for re-election in states that Mr. Trump won in 2016, and many of those states — such as Indiana, Missouri, North Dakota and West Virginia — may hold little sympathy for one of the primary causes of the looming shutdown: protecting young undocumented immigrants known as Dreamers.

No, the Dems aren't at fault, and the American people will know it. Four Republicans voted against this bill, five Dems voted for it. McConnell, at this moment, is the only senator who has not casted a vote. In other words, even the Republicans couldn't have got 50 votes to pass their own bill. This is on the Republicans for their utter failure of governance and the American people have already figured this out.

And it gets worse......Trump has so badly mismanaged the executive branch, this shutdown will be a disaster. There is no adequate preparation and not enough people nominated and placed in management positions. A total clusterfu*k, courtesy of Trump and the Republicans.........

Trump had a wonderful "1st year anniversary" celebration planned for tomorrow night at Mar-a-Lago, $100k per couple entry fee with a further $250k fee for a "round table discussion". He's going to miss it and he'll be pissed......

Edited to update, McConnell still hasn't voted, leaving a small window open for negotiations as of 11:30 EST. We'll see but I wouldn't hold my breath....

Schumer Shutdown successful. Now watch Trump make it as painless as possible to make his worthless predecessor look like the petty, vindictive POS he is.

Yes, I agree, if he shows up at Mar-a-Lago tomorrow night, with the government shut down in place, many people will be questioning his commitment to the nation.......

Before you guys go blaming Dems, you had better be able to cobble together a bill that your own caucus can support. Its not our job to replace the votes you could not find among your own, and then supply the rest for you as well. You want to run the show, then run the show successfully.

How incompetent can this Congress be, but then Trump would not even tell them what he was willing to sign and not.

Democrats are choosing illegals over Americans! This shut down is all their fault. No one else’s. DACA isn’t even part of the budget!

But you had four missing Republican votes. Mostly the conservative caucus who were sick of running the government via CRs and a refusal to sufficiently fund the military. Were they wrong and Anti-American too?

    Republicans control:
    The Senate
    The House of Representative
    The White House.

The avowed Party of No Government is now going to be running around trying to pass the blame for their failure of leadership.

And the Top Clown is gonna be Tweetin like an 8 year old boy.

Can't wait for that State of the Union Address.

And five of those senators were able to safely vote for the CR, knowing that four Republicans weren't. So they get to claim that they voted for it, and we will still get to negotiate a better deal. A smart and winning strategy for a caucus, is not complete and total subservience, its tactical subservience that provides the win and allows 'cover' for those most vulnerable. We didn't need their votes, but your team needed theirs and those republican four. Win/win for the Dems, and the southern Dems.

Two polls show quite a bit more people blame the GOP Congress and Donald Trump than Democrats.

Republicans control both houses of congress and the executive branch and they cannot manage to pass the budget; what's wrong with that picture?

60 votes. The Democrats held the country hostage and you know it! Nice try blaming it on the Republicans. It’s all over CNN that Americans are still blaming the Democrats. You’re not fooling anyone.
