The gun has a greater purpose. Correct. It is not ridiculous. I am not a ridiculous man. I am willing to understand your position. If you are unwilling to understand mine, this is fruitless.

Yes I am. We need a grand experiment in this country with gun control. Our kids deserve no less

    The shooter had no parents.

Film and video game violence is bad, but drugging kids?

Making them instant global celebrities when they kill?

    That's where to look.

But at any rate, these incidents are INCREDIBLY rare.

We did that. In DC. Didn't go so well, and was deemed unconstitutional by SCOTUS. You know, that whole rule of law thing you mentioned.

These shootings are INCREDIBLY rare, crime is WAY down, and children are safer than ever before.

You can't stop terrible things from happening, even incredibly rarely, however.

    What's yours?

Children are safer than ever, crime is way down, and shootings like this are INCREDIBLY rare.

    Clearly, we must panic.

Again the 'blaming guns" is simply made up.

Stating "someone with mental health issues should not be able to buy or have acces to guns" is not "blaming guns" its stating what is obviously a problem.

I as that guy and I never said such a thing. More made up BS to have an argument.

I said gun culture is part of the problem.

Always funny I have no real argument so I'll mention constitutional rights .

No showing facts is not against "constitutional rights" . And the facts are that school shootings in the US are VERY common. Happens ever week .

Nonsense to hide the fact you either are completly brainwashed or have some agenda into ignoring the obious and huge problem the US has with school shootings.

But keep it up, next will will probably bring another shooting with hopefully no casulties. Bask in the glory you dont want to do anything to prvent children from getting shot because of some warped ideology.

So the state should determine your fitness at baseline to grant you permission to observe an inalienable right?

How about free speech and press permits? Ideas are much more dangerous than guns. Yeah, put Trump in charge of that too... sounds amazing.

The second amendment gives the first teeth. Neither can be abridged.

    My side?
I'll elaborate on my own position with you. You can continue to debate other peoples positions with other people if you wish.

I'm from the UK. I am a gun owner and gun enthusiast.
I am also a school teacher.
I have had one of my guns outlawed and taken from me against my wishes in response to a school massacre. The first in our history and the last in our history. I believe the gun ban to have been 100% successful in ending school massacres.

Its not an inalienable right , plenty of restrictions already apply. Mental health is currently one of the restrictions but its too easy to get around, this just fixes that loophole.

    Nothing to do with this.

Again it already excluded people with mental health issues. Either you want this restriction lifted or I dont see how can have have an issue to take steps that the law is followed.

If your law is ****. Change it.

"Can't" and "won't" are not the same things.

    Try this instead:

"We could make possessing a gun radioactive for people we all agree shouldn't have them--felons, those using them to commit crimes, and gang members. (Radioactive=serious jail time). We can use effective background checks to limit guns getting into the hands of children, the mentally ill, and the senile. We could have a license to possess any firearm, even one you make, that is earned by demonstrating at least some proficiency in handling weapons. We could model it on the Nexus Pass that's tied to a database. It would be a simple matter for police to check to see if someone is entitled to possess a weapon ... and woe unto anyone who gets caught with a firearm and no permit."
