There is a solution to school shootings

We have a Bill of Rights

And the 1st and 2nd are the pillars of all those rights

 

Yep. We have gun control too. We need more

 

We have enough gun laws now

 

Nope. We need new and better ones

There's a statistical difference between a gun death, and any other type of death.

As you know the NFA sees to it that every demented teenage murderer has the means to do the deed. You also know, of course, that only deliberate lying about the archaic Constitution keeps your hugely inflated murder-rate in being. That illegal immigrants may act illegally is possible. There is massive evidence that what we are doing now is failing miserably. We can do much much better.....and it's a form.

 

There are 4,200 public schools in the State of Florida... I looked it up. But over six weeks ago, our highly-paid, ultra-professional 'James Bond' wannabe's in the FBI were given specific warning information about ONE weirdo's ravings and postings on social media. To even try to compare some kind of 'failure' of the Governor of Florida, Rick Scott (a Republican, of course), in not having already devised some kind of armed militia to occupy all 4,200 public schools in Florida with the slop-assed, inexcusable inaction of the FBI is ludicrous!

I understand the dilemma of every liberal Democrat in following Rahm Emanuel's well-known advice about never letting a crisis go to waste. On the one hand, they'd love to thrash the FBI because they've deluded themselves into thinking that Comey cost Hillary Clinton the election. On the other hand, they've got to defend the FBI because they know that the Mueller "investigation" is the only hope they have of getting Trump impeached. But now in Florida they're burying 17 high school students that very well might be alive today but for the fact that the FBI blew off strident warnings -- even though they were very compelling and detailed about the Cruz monster.

. "Naw, forget about that stupid "Cruz" crap -- what's the latest on nailing TRUMP?!"

 

I've never bought a gun. And the only one I have was my grandfathers and then my fathers (a shotgun). So I'm far, far, far from some kind of a gun nut.

But.

1) The 2nd Amendment (and this has been affirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court) guarantees a right to own or possess a firearm.
2) Like it or not, guns are fun. I don't hunt. I don't need a gun to defend my home. And if the federal or local government "turned oppressive" I'm under no illusions that my 12 gauge pump action shotgun wielded by me would enable me to "resist".

But it is still enjoyable to go out and fire off some rounds. My 18 year old daughter will buy a box of shells, go out to an isolated spot on a nearby river and blaze away until her shoulder is bruised badly.
