What is that supposed to mean? It's gibberish as an attempt at a cogent coherent thought.

My thesis is the phenomenon of mass random killings, which did not exist prior to 1966, were set off, somehow, by the radicalization of our nation as a whole. And that led simultaneously to many new calls by the left to restrict gun rights and, as an equal and opposite reaction,
    the rise of the NRA.

That's all straight forward circumstance. I don't see anything to argue over.

You don't have to agree with everything he says to see he makes some good points.
But there's an element of truth in the claim where a lot of people are concerned. How many people own guns who have no idea how to use them effectively?

I only saw about half of the video but I've seen him before and already admit he says some things that resonate.
However his main point, that self defense is not a good reason for owning guns (actually it's the only real reason that matters)
    is pure idiocy.

There may be some truth there but since when has absolute mastery of a skill or device been
a reason for nullifying a constitutional right?
Which states grant gun permits to people who really don't know what they are doing? None that I'm aware of.

Which states allow horrible unqualified drivers to get on the road? None.

You're the guy who linked mass shootings to the "radicalization of the left wing."
How do rightwing radicals fit in your analysis?
    Can you explain this?
    Or this?
You seem to confuse correlation and causation. The two graphs I asked you to explain are an obvious correlation, but I think we have to be careful about assuming more guns causes more deaths. For example, Minnesota and Louisiana have a similar level of gun ownership in terms of the numbers of households, while Louisiana has a much higher rate of gun deaths.

Two points. Some people aren't prepared to defend themselves with the weapons they own and may as well not have them. There are good reasons to own firearms if you're a farmer protecting lifestock from predators.
We don't require "absolute mastery" of a motor vehicle to get a driver's license. We can require a level of proficiency to possess a firearm. You don't have to be able to field strip and assemble your weapon blindfolded.
    Lots don't require a permit.

I posited a link and can't think of anything else that would explain a phenomenon in a nation that has been awash in guns since it's inception but only started to suffer from random mass shootings about the time the left became radicalized. If you have another
better explanation please don't keep it a secret.

The rise of right wing militias grew absolutely out of a fear that the
rising power of centralized government would revoke many freedoms, gun rights included. The left has demonized "gun nuts" and
in an equal but opposite reaction the far right has adopted a bunker mentality with regards to guns.

Something in the water? As said before nations like Israel and Switzerland have mandatory
gun ownership laws yet none of our problems with school shootings, and other random acts of violence. Do you think I somehow have the answer?

If you are arguing for more gun control laws you should say so.

And some people are prepared to defend themselves, including young children and elderly women.

You have the right to protect yourself in principal.
There are no guarantees a gun will save your life but I'd rather have a gun and not need it than need it and not have it.
BTW, my father was an Army shooting instructor and target shooting and gun safety were taught to me at an early age
    but I don't own a gun now.

We require a level of proficiency to drive a car the same as to own a gun. If not we should.

So, how come we have inner city problems other countries with as many (or more) immigrants and minorities don't have?

Also, how are good people trapped in the inner cities supposed to improve their situation if the schools are a disaster?

Not really it has happened troughout US history. Its just increases in frequency.

If you want scapegoats: Decline in health care, gun culture, societal changes, inequality .

Any finger pointing to 1 party is just someone thinking he can profit from this tragedy, and thats sick.

You avoided my question: "How much more money will we have to pay teachers to get them to work in a school where the job description includes carrying a weapon?"

Americans are God fearin' folk, so why do we have so many problems?

Again, Japanese who want firearms can easily obtain them - that is just another obvious fact of life - not "BS".

This is just one of the many ways people can obtain firearms:

For beig so anti gun they sure do put out a lot of John Eick etc.. but no. Blame the parents. Hollywood makes what we consume, we are in turn influenced anddeensitized to it, rince and repeat. Take porn for exmple. Not suggesting a ban, but recognize its influence on youth

What passes for the progressive left these days does actively encourage gun violence.
I did not know they thought it was funny.

    a) We don't care as a society
    b) The power structure requires scapegoats
    c) We are a post-industrial society with a redundant population no longer required for revenue generation
    d) We now have corporate for profit prisons with lobbyists and think tanks for this growth industry
    e) The above has a vested interest in higher rates of societal crime, violence, poverty, recidivism, and full/growing prisons
    f) For profit prisons engage in convict labor leasing wherein they have a labor force for pennies on the dollar with the costs offloaded onto the public
    g) Poor folk do not generate profit for corporations
    h) Incarcerated poor folk generate $40-50K per year, per hominid, for concentrated corporate power
    i) We are cannibalizing society economically to subsidize the Wall Street/donor/"job creator" class
    j) Our version of "capitalism" has a long and rich history of sacrificing humanity for "progress"

Because you can't think of another reason, you go ahead with what is an assertion of causation you can't support?
So, is that where we get the shooters?
How would you explain it away?
    IOW, you can't.

Yes, I'm arguing for a national licensing system that makes guns radioactive (long jail sentences) for felons, gang bangers, and people using them to commit crimes. The licensing system would make it easy to do background checks at gun shows and be sure people possessing guns were marginally proficient with firearms. It would help us keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill and senile.

So who in the GOP gives a rat's rear about their plight? President Bone Spurs doesn't. He's too busy denying the Russians are a problem.

The Congressional baseball practice without the very competent guards would have ended in mass slaughter and a shift in control of Congress.
