    Fortunately nothing bad happened. Will this lead to demonstrations because of the homeowners attempt to stereotype the kid? Because this is Think Progress could there be more to the story?

    Lets just keep in mind that if the roles were reversed a shooting would have happened as well.

    A White kid strolling around a Black ghetto would have been shot at.

    I don't know, but I'm thinking if black males don't like being stereotyped as criminals, maybe they should stop perpetrating over 50% of America's crime.

    So "almost" shot dead is a problem? BTW what race/ethnic group is most involved in home invasions? Hint: it's not Whites.

    I would think it very extremely incredulously odd that a teenager couldn't navigate his city by dead reckoning enough to know basic landmarks and find his school. But that isn't reason to open fire. I might think he was retarded in special ed.

    Don’t cite stats. Some people will think it’s ONLY the color of their skin and not the decades of violent statistics that makes people leary.

    I know my neighbors son who lives 2 doors down. If a black kid I don’t know randomly knocked on my door asking a fairly stupid question I wouldn’t open the door and after he walked away, I’d be eyeing him all the way down the street. Even if he was white and shady looking I’d act no different.

    I wouldn’t open my door to anyone I didn’t know. Wouldn’t whip a gun out either. I have hurricane doors and windows so they’re not getting in anyway unless they have a sledge hammer and a lot of energy. :) And NOT before the cops show up or they’re dead on my front stoop if they managed to get my door open. Castle Doctrine baby. :)

    Sure it does. A white homeowner does have a reasonable suspicion for a black kid being in his neighborhood, especially with the association of home invasion and black criminals in general. Want some examples?
