I didn't ask for SS and Medicare.

And are you saying that you want cuts to SS and Medicare?

I'm for making SS optional. I want to opt out of SS so that I can take that money and put it in my 401K on top of what I'm already investing.

The rich were paying the vast majority of income taxes before the cuts and continue to pay the vast majority of income taxes after the cuts.

In point of fact it was Obama who along with Harry Reid refused
to debate a budget.Harry Reid's senate did not even submit a
budget let alone pass one. They ran all Obama's first term on CR's.
Granted Bush nearly doubled the National Debt from around $ 5 trillion
    to $ 10 Trillion.But Obama went form $ 10 Trillion to almost $ 20 trillion.
    Huge difference.
And yes there is now a doubling of the standard deduction.

You asked about taxes. Are you not aware of FICA taxes?

Why on earth would you think I'm saying that.

Good for you. Personally, I like living in a country were we don't have hordes of old folks, disable, or temporarily down on their luck families living under freeway overpasses and begging at stop lights.

Great. Income taxes make up only a small portion of all taxes paid. Why are you ignoring the rest? Other than the obvious fact that you want to deceive folks.

Bush inherited a surplus and a solid economy while Obama inherited a trillion + deficit and the worst recession in 80 years.

Do you have a clue why that would matter?

So then in 2000 President Bush was not handed a Recession c/o
    Slick Willy.I think Not.
Yes,Bush was handed as an incoming president with a slight
    surplus but also a Recession.
Don't forget who gave Slick Willy FOUR Consecutive Balanced
budgets. It was The Republican Wave with Newt Gingrich in the
    mid-90's.

GDP grew 3.3% in 2001. That did cause the surplus to turn into deficits.

Because of soaring tax revenues after the Clinton tax increase, the deficit was already almost eliminated before any Republican legislation on the budget.

Obama decelerated deficits. Trump and the GOP Congress have accelerated deficits. Funny you have not noticed what is right in front of your face.

Wait til you see the 2018 deficit. Maybe then you will notice!

What's the liberal platform come Nov? Supporting illegal aliens over hard working Americans, whining about having more of your own money, and propping up a guy you said should have been fired because he rips on Trump? Good luck with that, because from what I can see you folks don't have anything else...

WOW!!!. . . . Does conservative patriotism mean nothing more than an American flag in an avatar???. . . . Your NEW heroes are parsimonious trickle-downers, a far cry from the self-sacrificing martyrs we have honored in the past.

Granted. But this turd is going to require some serious polishing if the GOP is going to dupe The Following yet again by getting them to ignore the feel good, short term, chicken in every pot enticement they are selling has an enormous deferred bill attached.

If you don't have enough money to fund a 401 without taking your FICA...you better damn well keep your Social Security

And you would be wrong :) Sequestration FORCED Mr. Obatard to reduce spending.. Otherwise Mr. Obatard and crew would have happily gone with the with his average one trillion dollar deficit!

Golly at least make it a little challenging slick!

Plus the Moron has nothing to show for his spending but fatter bankers and a failed health care plan

Trumpers keep pretending that people can't look at their paychecks and compare them to last year.

That's one turd that no amount of polishing is going to have much effect on

Apparently that is an issue on the left since I am very happy with my new increased takehome pay. Either that or you don't pay federal taxes.

I didn't ask for the government to confiscate money from my paycheck to fund the two largest spending programs in the United States.

I'm a responsible citizen and take care of myself and my family. Others should do the same and stop expecting others to pay for their stuff.
No one is stopping you from helping people. Stop using government to steal peoples money for the sole purpose of you feeling good.
No they don't "make up only a small portion of all taxes paid."

According to 2015 data, FICA taxes generated only $1.07 trillion whereas income taxes generated $3.18 trillion.

I actually have plenty to fund my 401K.

I'm just saying that if I was able to opt out of SS, that I would invest that money on top of what I'm already investing.

In other words, I wouldn't waste it on gold chains, shiny rims, high tops, and baggy jeans.

The only solution is to slash spending.

But neither party wants to cut spending.

So, I don't care about debts and deficits.

Nice...throw a little dog whistle in there huh? Good job. Way to show your Republican bona fides.

So you can more than adequately fund your 401K...and even though you'll be getting like $3K a month at 65 on top of your 401...you want more?

And so what if that screws ordinary working folks?

    Way to go...
