he will NOT become head of the VA all that will happen is his reputation will be tarnished more, and by extension...Trump's.
The VA has about the same number of employees as IBM. Do you think the board of IBM would hire the IT guy from PC Pitstop to run their company?
Nice to see you downplay his career and i guess the guy from PC Pitstop is good enough for WhiteHouse IT security in your mind then.... ( two can play your stupid game)
Obama didn't just keep Jackson on, Obama promoted him, wrote fitness reports that were glowing and unequivocal, named him Physician to the President and taking the 2012 IG's report recommendation President Obama fired Dr. Jeffrey Kuhlman.
I'd like to see the man prevail. This tarnish you speak of is congresses, specifically Sen Jon Tester's. "A top Senate Democrat says allegations against President Donald Trump’s pick to lead Veterans Affairs involve him being “repeatedly drunk” when he was a White House physician. Sen. Jon Tester of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee is reviewing the allegations against Ronny Jackson, a White House doctor since 2006. He tells NPR the committee was told that Jackson was “repeatedly drunk” while on travel with former President Barack Obama and that on overseas trips Jackson improperly handed out prescription drugs to help travelers sleep and wake up." Doing a real good job there Sen Testor, since 2006? Yeah, Jon you're a real firecracker! I don't understand the personal animus here, frankly I find it beneath contempt.
I don't think anyone has a problem with Ronny. If Trump has driven him to drink he can get help and be good as new. The joke is that Trump would try to appoint a guy to run a Yuge organization who has never managed more than a couple dozen employees - that he would do it on a moments notice and without vetting him. Edit: sorry not done. You may have noticed this is not the first time Trump has done this. Who knows when he will do it with something he can't simply walk away from. That's the problem.
I don't know much about Whitehouse IT security, but if I could get the IT guy from IBM to run it I'm pretty sure I would give him a shot (after I vetted him.)
Trump was relying on the decades of apparently event free service, then all of a sudden there are allegations. If anything this goes to show the level of corruption in the Obama regime, as these allegations all occurred under his watch and were missed or ignored...
Just being a doctor wouldn't give qualification, being an admiral does. You can't become an admiral without organizational skills and command experience. As a veteran I'd rather see someone who was in uniform in charge than someone who never was, although that is no guarantee, its definitely more comforting when considering VA leadership...
Oh really? This sure sounds like the President defending Jackson to me...but then I speak English, not Leftgoofyspeak, and go with the words that were actually spoken, not the madeup bullshit you keep trying to foist here. Pres.Trump repeatedly said the choice to withdraw was Navy Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson’s, but he also questioned why he would want to go forward and take the "abuse" from politicians. “It’s totally his decision, he’ll be making a decision,” Trump said when asked about the nomination of Jackson, who is the White House physician to the president. The president said he told Jackson “this is a vicious group of people that malign. What do you need this for? … You’re too fine a person.” adding. "If I were him, I wouldn't do it,” Trump said. More madeup BULLSHIT: No red flags were raised’ in Ronny Jackson nomination vetting, White House says White House Director of Legislative Affairs Marc Short One is, the president did say that he would certainly understand, but he also said that, I’m going to stand behind him. And I think that Dr. Jackson has every opportunity now to make sure that those accusations that have been raised are proven to be false. Dr. Jackson is a great story, small-town Texas kid, goes off to medical school, volunteers to serve our country and rises all the way up to admiral, has treated soldiers, men and women in combat. He’s served multiple presidents, Republicans and Democrats. He’s a great pick for this role. And we look forward to him having his day in front of the American people to make his case. On the vetting process, keep in mind, to become admiral and to work in the White House, there’s plenty of background checks that happen all the time. And in this case, there is also an FBI background check. It happens before the nomination is sent forward. None of the accusations came forward on this. Additionally, there’s also a financial element that goes through the Office of Government Ethics. It’s not the White House job. It’s the Office of Government Ethics that’s set up to do financial deconflicting that happens before the nomination is forwarded. So, in all of that, there has been no red flags were raised. There’s been a couple people that have come forward at the last minute who have raised some accusations to Senator Tester, who is the ranking member on Veterans Affairs. But we think that they are false, and we think that Admiral Jackson will do a great job. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/n...y-jackson-nomination-vetting-white-house-says Yeah, he really "threw Jackson under the bus", by COMPLETELY SUPPORTING HIM. Please cite all the Superior Qualifications of the last THREE VA DIRECTORS, who then screwed the vets, wasted BILLIONS, ad FAILED MISERABLY. We need to get another "highly qualified" DC bureaucrat like we needed to give the muslim brotherhood $1.5 billion...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_McDonald_(businessman) SNIP President Obama cited McDonald’s business background and experience revitalizing organizations in his decision.[16] Obama said, “[W]hat especially makes Bob the right choice to lead the VA now is his three decades of experience in building and managing one of the world’s most recognized companies, Procter & Gamble. The VA is not a business, but it is one of our largest departments... And the workload at the VHA alone is enormous...” Obama added, “Bob is an expert at making organizations better. In his career he’s taken over struggling business units... putting an end to what doesn’t work; adopting the best practices that do; restructuring, introducing innovations, making operations more efficient and effective. In short, he’s about delivering better results.” On July 23, 2014, the United States Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs voted unanimously to forward McDonald's nomination to the full Senate.[17] On July 29, 2014, the Senate confirmed McDonald in a 97-0 vote.[3] ENDSNIP I know there are some big words in there... restructuring, innovations, efficient, effective.... please look them up
Yeah, It's a hard job. But since you ask, I think someone like Shulkin (minus the travel problems) would be a good choice. President and CEO of Beth Israel and some experience in the VA. But if your looking for someone to dismantle the VA as Trump seems to want to do it may take a guy more like Romney. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Shulkin
He betrayed a friend/ally by refusing to defend him against the allegations (claiming he did not know about the allegations while simultaneously relaying the story of how he told Johnson on the phone that he should not undergo the review process given how mean it is), saying that Jackson had a qualifications problem, and that he did not think Jackson should continue the review process. And he made all of those statements in an effort to continue an attack on the Senate's Advise and Consent review process and specifically to attack Democrats. Ergo, "Tossing under the bus.
Kinda missed the POINT of my post, didja? So McDonald was the "kinda guy" we should be looking for at the VA, huh? YOUR "HIGHLY QUALIFIED JACKASS is EXACTLY THE KIND OF BUREACRATIC ******* WE DESPERATELY NEED TO GET AWAY FROM. An UNMITIGATED FAILURE. Der..... VA chief Robert McDonald is mired in denial Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald’s retreat this week from his foolish comparison between wait times at VA hospitals and waiting for a Disney ride was entirely predictable and would be forgettable too if it wasn’t typical of the secretary’s approach. But it is unfortunately all too typical. McDonald has repeatedly downplayed, dismissed or misrepresented the depth of problems at his agency and even the nature of the attempted fixes. And he has belittled critical reports as “recycled and embellished” even though the media highlighted scandals that otherwise would have failed to come to light. Just last month at a United Veterans Committee of Colorado banquet, McDonald suggested the VA had led the way in reforming “how we design, bid and construct facilities.” In fact, as members of Colorado’s congressional delegation were quick to point out, Congress “stripped the VA of construction authority” — in the words of U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet — because of incompetence. And as Rep. Mike Coffman noted, it was absurd for McDonald to suggest the waiting-list scandal that surfaced first in Phoenix was due to a lack of training, when it was so clearly rooted in outright corruption. Meanwhile, it isn’t clear that wait times in many places have improved despite VA claims. Just last week “PBS NewsHour” reported that the VA has botched the Veterans Choice program that Congress created in the wake of the wait-time scandal to give veterans an option in private practice. The punch line: “We found that some veterans are actually trying the Choice program, and then it takes so long that thousands and thousands of them are returning to the VA and just saying, well, the appointment I would get here would be faster. Overall, wait times at the VA are worse than they were when this program started.” And yet this week McDonald was at it again. “What really counts is how does the veteran feel about their encounter with the VA,” McDonald told reporters. “When you go to Disney, do they measure the number of hours you wait in line? Or what’s important? What’s important is what’s your satisfaction with the experience.” Besides trivializing delays in access to life-and-death health services by comparing them to lines, say, for Cinderella Castle, McDonald also happened to be spectacularly wrong. As Scott Shackford at Reason’s Hit & Run blog pointed out, “Disney has invested incredible sums of money in its efforts to reducing the amount of time people spend in lines and the friction caused by these waits” — from a FastPass to “micro-chipped wristbands designed to ease guests’ planning and wait times while in the park.” McDonald has been VA chief two years, and apparently has been co-opted utterly by the bureaucracy. His resignation should be the first one the next president accepts. https://www.denverpost.com/2016/05/25/va-chief-robert-mcdonald-is-mired-in-denial/ After the VA scandal, veterans were told their wait for care would get shorter. But it’s actually getting worse. https://www.washingtonpost.com/ VA Secretary Bob McDonald Clarifies Comment Comparing Wait Times to Disneyland https://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/v...ammed-tone-deaf-comparison-disneyland-n579241
Admiral Jackson should be confirmed. Even Obama said he is extremely skilled and should be promoted. The Democratic Party opposes him because the Democratic Party hates the military and wants our veterans and troops to suffer and die. The Democratic Party would shut down the VA if it could and use the money to fly in millions more Latinos and to give it to Iran.
The title of this thread is just a Democrat talking point LIE. "Trump offered words of support for Jackson: He said he’d stand behind the doctor if he kept himself in the running, vouched for his character, and said he was unaware of the allegations against him." LYING is the #1 Democratic Party tactic - and they laugh their asses off at their little minions buying what anyone can see is a lie. "I will stand behind you and vouch for your character" is exactly the oppose of "throwing someone under the bus." I guess President Obama threw Hilary Clinton under the bus when he endorsed her too.
The attacks against Admiral Jackson are laughable. This is it: 1. He drinks liquor. 2. On long distant flights with time zone changes that disrupts a person's sleep pattern, he offers a sleeping pill. 3. A lower ranking person wanted Admiral Jackson's job - and the investigation showed the lower ranking person is just a malcontent. That's it. That's the "scandal." There is no scandal, just Democrat lies.
