NRA isn't one making the rules but rather Secret Service.

And the Secret Service, whose main job in the world is to keep people safe, feels that fewer guns are better for keeping people safe.

NRA....people, if you can call them that, have to be protected from their own gun-addled membership.

It's not spinning. It is an event where the President will be. Certain mandatory safety protocols are needed.

In general, guns are not forbidden from NRA events. This is a unique circumstance and there are laws which need to be obeyed.

How is it a spin? The NRA itself said that it's the requirement by Secret Service. There is no rule set by the NRA that bans guns. Some convention centers or state laws might dictate whether guns are allowed but when guns are allowed, the NRA allows it.

It's the same Secret Service that also feels that backpacks, water bottles over a certain size, and oranges aren't safe either. Do you want those to be banned also? What Secret Service considers a security risk and what are actually security risks to the public are two different things.

Again, the NRA isn't the ones making the rules.

So, it's now perfectly acceptable for the government to establish rules on how, where, and when a lawful citizen can carry a firearm? And in this case they aren't banning a particular firearm, they are banning all firearms.

How does this jibe with the "from my cold, dead hands" rhetoric?

You can’t carry a firearm in any federal building or any building that has federal employees.

I reckon that should end this thread.

This isn't a federal building and no federal employees work there. The thread remains open.

The fourth post on this exact same topic and the OP hasn't figured out the NRA does not make the rules.

What part of “you can’t carry a gun in a building that contains federal employees” bounces off your dome? You can’t carry in a post office, social security office, any national park office, any national recreation area office or ANY BUILDING THAT HAS FEDERAL EMPLOYEES! I’m trying to educate you on gun laws that us law abiding gun owners must follow. Are you dense, or just being a troll?

If guns are safe enough to give to our teachers while they teach are students then certainly they pose absolutely no harm to the president,. Guns make schools safer so they have to make the president safer. We have all heard about how gun free zones are dangerous places where any criminal can come in and shoot the place up, so if everyone around the president is armed and ready to take out the bad guy he would be even safer than if he was protected by just the secret service.

Now if having guns around in the hands of all the NRA people does not make trump safer then we completely undermine the idea guns make things safer, and therefor anyone gun lover who does not absolutely support the president and vice president having the NRA around them locked and loaded has just shot the legs out of their entire farce that guns make things safer. Not only that they have probably riddled it with holes like a cop shooting an unarmed black kid in his grandmothers back yard for having a cell phone.

The NRA just conceded they are not to be trusted with guns, so it is time to start putting some big regulations on guns, or maybe to just start banning them all together because gun possession is not universal if you can ban them at an NRA event of all places.

Its not a law it is a request a condition set forth by the secret service that needs to be followed if you want the VP or the President to be in attendance

I never said I agree with it. II'm simply saying that the NRA isn't the one making the rule. I personally would like it if CCW holders were allowed to be armed as they are statistically more law abiding than the police. However that isn't what I'm talking about nor is it the subject of the thread.

Does the NRA own the convention center? No, they don't.

This has nothing to do with the NRA and everything to do with the convention center rules.

    Try to keep up.

Thank you for admitting that armed members of the NRA all over the place do not make things safer, because if they did the president and vice president would be stupid to make them give up their guns. Also thank you for admitting the second amendment is not universal and can even be denied to all people so now we can start puitting in place some much better regulations and denying people access to deadly weapons which make things more dangerous for all involved like they do for the president.

Now that you are a gun grabbing librul do you want your hillary clinton 2020 bumper sticker in pink or blue?
