NBC, ABC Correct Story That Cohen's Phone Was Wiretapped

NBC and ABC News both issued corrections Thursday evening after reporting earlier in the day that President Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen had his phone wiretapped by federal investigators. The networks clarified that Cohen had not been wiretapped.

NBC first reported that “Cohen's phone lines had been wiretapped, meaning a judge had given investigators approval to listen to phone calls.

However, after three senior U.S. officials disputed that report, the network issued a correction. The officials said the monitoring of Cohen’s calls was limited to a log of calls which simply monitors incoming and outgoing calls to a number rather than listening in on them.

The difference between a wiretap of conversations, and metadata regarding incoming and outgoing calls, is enormous.

This "wiretap" story was no small thing. It was a huge thing. But once again, it's shown the MSM has spread disinformation and fueled massive speculation and response from the usual sources. Many threads were created on this site regarding this false story from NBC and others.

Is there any doubt about the collapse of the 4th Estate, or is this just an honest mistake, and there is nothing to see here?

 

Actually I wouldn’t be surprised if the media had it right the first time and his phone was tapped. Then a retraction to prevent outrage. Think they wouldn’t tap his phone without a warrant?

 

Since they corrected themselves within a day, I would say it's not an end of the world thing.

 

Given what the public has learned, I wouldn't be surprised about anything.

However, whether Cohen's phones were tapped or not, NBC and other members of the left's MSM created a firestorm, and they didn't have the facts.

This happens all the time. In their rush to be first among the liberal media to add fire to their effort to oust the President of the United States, the media invented a story. No way they thought it was no big deal. They knew the story was huge, yet apparently didn't have the facts to back it.

So why should the public believe anything these media sources publish?

Did you see the same number of headlines saying the story was false?

Did you even know the story was retracted?

 

Maybe the story is true but they were not supposed to say it because the wiretaps were not legally authorized

If so then the rogue agents at the FBI would be in legal jeporday

So the lib jpurnalists had to fall on their swords to protect their friends in the Deep State

LOL so all your posters here knew the difference between a pen trace and a tap on a phone line and would not get confused if some source told you that a line had a pen trace put on it?

Seem no reason not to think that the miss reporting was not an honest error.

 

Well, it is possible but we just do not know. But why did Brazille fear for her own life? Did she think trump had put out a hit on her, or someone else? Why did no journalist ever ask her from MSM? It seems like a most important question to ask.

I guess the only way we will ever find out if rich was the source of wilkileaks is if assange decides to reveal his source on those DNC emails, before he is taken out. His life is not worth two red cents. Especially if Rich was his source.
