Of course they did, as I said they did. And they probably would have killed a factory owner who didn't cooperate with the war effort. The government also poured an unsustainable amount of money into the war effort. But, I doubt you were referring to WWII when you originally claimed your family benefited from socialism during the Great Depression.

I'm not sure what happened. I don't think we can deliberately stop it, I think it has to slowly fade out. I wish we could go back to the point where political differences could be less important in terms of interpersonal life.

There is such a huge demand and market for news and commentary of this kind, unfortunately. It's not as simple as blaming the media, because it's really a mutually fed, reciprocal kind of dynamic between them and their audience, and of course their audience go on to influence public opinion in general just as much as the media do through word of mouth online and off. It's all an unstoppable storm system of sorts. Might as well try to stop a hurricane forming as try to stop people polarizing and whipping themselves up into partisan division and hatred.

 

You must not watch for comprehension. I've seen them insult Cruz, Sessions, and a variety of others. When GW Bush was President, they were pretty vicious to him as well.

 

There are some people who think we should reinstate the Fairness Doctrine, and I do think it notable that we got along perfectly well under it until 1987 which is just about when all this crap started.
