    Hi all,

I'm creating this thread because a member participating in one of the Ranked Votes suggested to me that I should put together a contact list of all the members who participated in past Ranked Votes and send them @ reminders whenever a new vote was held or results were posted. I didn't want to just start spamming you guys though if you weren't interested, so I figured I'd set this thread up to see who all wanted to receive reminders and who didn't. So...everyone listed below, you're all included here because you participated in one or more votes. Congrats, and thanks! :)

If you want to receive reminders about new ranked votes being set up, nomination periods opening, or results being posted...or, if you don't want any of that... Just make a post in this thread to let me know, or, pick an option from the poll...or both. Either way, I'll figure it out.

Oh, and for anyone who sees this who isn't in the list, you're of course welcome to request being added in as well. In fact, let's say that for people in the list, this is opt out, and opt in for everyone else. And for the new folks,...to sum up what this is all about, we're basically taking issues that our country faces, and laying out the full range of options for how we might be able to deal with them, and we're then voting on which of those options are the best ones, using ranked methods for tallying the votes.

Ranked Vote: Discussion Thread (includes schedule)
What To Do To Reduce Partisan Dysfunction In Politics
Solutions Oriented Approach to Restoring Meaningful Civil Discourse

Also, I know that a lot of these votes are sort of U.S.-centric, and that a few of you are from different countries. Even so, if you have an opinion on something feel free to weigh in. OK, that's all. Hope everyone has a great day! :-D

    Thank you, Meta. :)

Interesting to note that Ranked Voting is getting an opportunity in Maine.

    https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/04/ranked-choice-voting-maine/557669/

Since ranked voting is superior to traditional voting in determining the actual outcome of how voters feel about candidates I can see why it would be confusing to those who don't understand it.

In that respect I must applaud Meta's efforts in making it clear and providing us with examples and the opportunity to try it out and learn for ourselves.

Thanks Derideo! And thanks for the info on Maine, I hadn't heard of that yet. :)

BTW, I tried that contact list out but I'm not sure if it worked or not.
I used it in the gerrymandering vote thread: http://www.politicalforum.com/index...-gerrymandering.534578/page-8#post-1069185244
But when I posted it, I put it inside a spoiler tag so that it wouldn't take up so much space. Not sure if that affects it or not, and don't really have a good way to tell. Not many votes coming in on that thread at the moment so was kinda wondering. Did you happen to get a second mention alert when I made that post?

    I did NOT receive any notification similar to this one;

Instead I only received this MENTION notification.

    http://politicalforum.com/index.php...-gerrymandering.534578/page-8#post-1069185244

Hopefully that helps you to figure out how this works.

FWIW on another forum, using the same Xenforo software platform, we always put Mentions into a separate post with a link to the original Content post that we wanted them to look at. That ensured that the Content post did not cause additional Mention notifications if anyone else was to Reply to the Content post.

Ah, thanks Derideo, I think that means that it worked.
And now I'm thinking that perhaps I need to add at least 1-2 more
standard options to the next ranked vote in addition to the normal solution ideas.

Hmm, might have to look into that then.
Though actually, now that you....mention it (haha,...get it? :p)
...now that you mention it, I kind of want to test that out too.
I suspect that this site may work a bit differently from that other forum you men...that other forum you were talking about.

Hey, it looks like someone finally quoted one of those notification lists. (took long enough)
Curious if you happened to get more than one mention notification per thread because of that...
