The New York State attorney general’s office filed a scathingly worded lawsuit on Thursday taking aim at the Donald J. Trump Foundation, accusing the charity and the Trump family of sweeping violations of campaign finance laws, self-dealing and illegal coordination with the presidential campaign.

The lawsuit, which seeks to dissolve the foundation and bar President Trump and three of his children from serving on nonprofit organizations, was an extraordinary rebuke of a sitting president. The attorney general also sent referral letters to the Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Election Commission for possible further action, adding to Mr. Trump’s extensive legal challenges.

Things like this are why Don spends so much time trashing the media and political opponents. Is there any doubt the minions will soon be singing the "bias" tune, no doubt orchestrated by the maestro, Duplicitous Don.

    From the NYT article............

"The lawsuit, filed in State Supreme Court in Manhattan, culminated a nearly two-year investigation of Mr. Trump’s charity, which became a subject of scrutiny during and after the 2016 presidential campaign. While such foundations are supposed to be devoted to charitable activities, the complaint asserts that Mr. Trump’s was often used to settle legal claims against his various businesses, even spending $10,000 on a portrait of Mr. Trump that was hung at one of his golf clubs.

The foundation was also used to curry political favor, the lawsuit asserts. During the 2016 race, the foundation became a virtual arm of Mr. Trump’s campaign, email traffic showed, with his campaign manager Corey Lewandowski directing its expenditures, even though such foundations are explicitly prohibited from political activities."

Little to nothing of Dirty Donalds foundation contributions went to charities, they were usually self serving for his personal expenditures.

Where Did Trump's Foundation Donate Its Money? IRS Documents Reveal Surprising Answers\

The Donald J. Trump Foundation gave away $10.9 million from 2001 to 2014, taking a scattershot approach to philanthropy with donations to more than 400 different charities, according to a Forbes analysis of 14 years of IRS documents. Among the notable recipients: the William J. Clinton Foundation, a state branch of the ACLU and a nonprofit run by the New York Times, which Trump routinely criticizes on Twitter. Only $2.8 million of that money came from Trump himself.

The biggest single beneficiary was the Police Athletic League, a New York City charity that works with local police officers to provide summer camps, universal pre-K programs and after-school activities for children. According to the charity’s website, Trump serves on its board of directors alongside fellow billionaire investor Ron Perelman and New York supermarket magnate John Catsimatidis. It is the only charity that got a donation from the Trump Foundation every single year from 2001-2014, ultimately receiving $832,500, 8% of the foundation's total gifts during the 14-year stretch.

An estimated 36% of the foundation’s money went to roughly 100 organizations promoting healthcare, the Forbes examination revealed. The Trump Foundation gave more than $465,000 to both the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Operation Smile, which offers free surgeries to children born with cleft palates in developing countries. The foundation gave at least $326,000 to New York Presbyterian Hospital and $250,750 to its sister institution, the Hospital for Special Surgery, which is also based in New York City.

If you could only make the font a little bigger perhaps you could get the NY AG to ignore all the Foundation's violations.

No surprise here. It is very befitting of Trump's character that he uses other people's goodwill to enrich himself and his family.

Ivanka and Jared, for example, made $82 million last year. I wonder how many millions they saved by the tax cuts that they "advised" for. Can you say conflict of interest?

The whole family is morally decrepit.

Anyone think it's just a coincidence this lawsuit comes out the day the OIJ Report is to be released?

What does the report matter? Hillary is history. Of course, the Trump fans need to keep her up as the greatest enemy, that why they keep living in the past, always replaying 2016 election night in their heads. Pathetic...

You also can't prosecute a sitting president meaning you either have to wait or impeach him.

    Good luck with that.

Bullshit. You're referring to a DOJ POLICY...that has nothing to do with state law

No, it has to do with a Supreme Court ruling which overrides state law.

They said that the president should be expected to answer criminal charges in a reasonable time frame at a time of his choosing and when its convenient for him to do so, he cannot be compelled by anyone.

Its all there in the Clinton case, you should go read it.

Basically they left it as a huge grey area meaning you can't subpoena a president unless he wants to, you can't call him into court.....all you can do is file charges and wait for him to want to respond.

And the reason for this ruling should be obvious.

Now we got him. This is finally it. He is done. Headed for jail tomorrow morning for sure without question.

I think this is the fourth different "we got him" thread today started by the usual suspects. One of whom has posted two.
How many Trump lawsuits are already out there? Get in line kids, 2024 is soon to be upon us.

He used a charity as a personal check book.

There's a Florida Congresswoman serving time in Colman Prison for the same crime.

FBI agent Peter Strzok assured his mistress and colleague Lisa Page that they would stop Donald Trump from winning the presidency in a text message, a new report from the DOJ inspector general finds per Bloomberg News White House Correspondent Jennifer Jacobs.

“Several FBI employees Who played critical roles in the investigation sent political messages,” the report reads, according to Jacobs.

“(Trump’s) not ever going to become president, right? Right?!” Page wrote to Strzok, Bloomberg reports.

“No. No he’s not. We’ll stop it,” Strzok reportedly replied.

And you left out the part that mentioned there was no evidence of bias affecting investigations.

But yeah ouch, without that FACT you have no point do you.
