so jesus was a liar? Odd he'd lie to not get killed on the spot, but wouldn't lie to save his life when arrested.

why odd? Jesus needed time on earth to establish his reputation so it stands to reason he found a way to be here until his work was done. Does the liberal understand now?

yes Jesus can be seen as first Republican since he challenged the Roman State the way or Founders challenged the English State.

Read the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus was teaching non-violent resistance to the oppressive laws of the Roman occupation.

Specifically.. carrying a soldier's pack, turning the other cheek and giving up one's cloak. Jesus made it pretty clear his kingdom was not of this world.

Wrong. The Sanhedrin were the liberal Church establishment that promoted the laws of men over the love of God. Evangelicals call for the return of spiritual truth.

The Sanhedrin were the enforcers of Temple law initiated by the Pharisees. Jesus addressed them appropriately as "like white washed tombs, lovely to look at with the smell of death on the inside". That today is comparable to the liberal mainline denominations who depart from the Word of God in favor of "Universalism".

IT would be nice to be able to pin it all on the Pharisees. Truth is, the Sanheddrin condemned him. MUCH MOAR like YOU and ME. WE killed Jesus. Our fault.

Literally, that is why Judas betrayed Jesus, and why Jesus was crucified. He would NOT MAKE himself King, and RULE. Thus, usurping Roman Rule.

Re -read it..... Jesus was teaching violent resistance to sinful human nature. Oppressive laws are only a result of that.

DUDE, Judas betrayed Jesus. Why? Judas was a DAGGERMAN. He wanted to USE Jesus, to OUST Roman rule. When his vehicle proved incapable of violent revolution, Jesus was John Lennon'ed.

Jesus' teachings on nonviolent resistance: "You have heard, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth,' but I say, Offer no violent resistance to one who does evil."

He doesn't understand the Bible or hasn't read it.

Jesus prohibits any form of punishment or violent retaliation. He advocates a brand new way of life: nonviolent resistance to oppression and imperial domination.

"Should anyone press you into service for one mile," Jesus says again, "go with him two miles." Roman soldiers forced the poor to carry their heavy packs for them. By law, however, the soldiers were not permitted to force the poor to walk more than one mile with their packs.

The Galileans were totally oppressed and terrorized by these Roman occupiers . Jesus shows them a way to nonviolently resist the soldiers.

Go an extra mile, he says. His audience would understand that any soldier would be arrested for breaking the law and imprisoned. If everyone in Galilee did this, all Roman soldiers would be imprisoned.

Jesus doesn't say: kill the Roman soldiers or fight them. He does not advocate sitting back and passively suffering their oppression. He teaches creative nonviolent resistance to transform the situation without violence. You are not helpless, he insists. Use creative nonviolent action to end oppression.

GIVE ALSO YOUR UNDERGARMENT WITH YOUR CLOAK, will get the asker jailed. Turning the other cheek, is a DEFIANT gesture.

Treating those who wish to do you harm well, is ALSO defiant, and infuriating.

So we see, that Jesus is the worlds greatest COMMUNITY ORGANIZER. HE is a civil rights leader. HE is a minority community leader. HE is a union organizer.

What Jesus is NOT, is a right winger, even a smidgeon.

Maybe you should look up Sanhedrin.

Mainline churches weren't taken over by the Scofield heresy.
