U.S. indictments show technical evidence for Russian hacking accusations

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - U.S. indictments against a dozen Russian intelligence officers on Friday provided detailed technical evidence to back up allegations of Russian hacking and leaking of information to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

By tracing control of email and social media accounts and a tool for remote internet connections, the 29-page indictment document for the first time showed that the same group of Russians leased servers, targeted Democratic officials with phishing tricks aimed at capturing their online credentials and communicated with Republicans and other distributors of hacked information.

I’ve said all along that we have no idea the scope of the Intel we’ve collected on these scumbags. As I’ve suggested, the fbi likely knew who was behind this before they got corroboration from crowdstrike.

No link to the indictment and in spite of the claim that it, "provided detailed technical evidence to back up allegations of Russian hacking and leaking of information to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election," didn't actually provide detailed technical evidence.

 

Severs, emails, social media, crypto currency....that’s fairly detailed.

 

So what do you plan on doing about it?

Should we go to war with Russia over it?

Send millions of young men to their deaths because your Queen didn't win the presidency?

Yes, but then we have to redefine it because it wasn't a "hack" in the sense of a virus or a program infiltrating the system(as the publicly released report kind of tried to sell it as a larger attack than what it really was). Technically, the Russians didn't "hack" the DNC server/computers, the DNC users unwittingly and stupidly allowed them by clicking the links provided.

Ironically, this would've never succeeded if Podesta knew about how Google works. It will NEVER ask you for your password, or to change your password. That's the fine print in every social media terms of agreement(which I typically skip over because we know all this stuff.)

What the Russians did was wrong, and a crime. But let's not make the Dems out to be victims of anything but their own incompetence. Would you trust unwitting idiots with our national security?

We've been told that this is "interference in our election" and a threat to our system, but draw all the hyperbole down and you realize the actuality behind the crimes and the real seriousness.

It was a low level attempt, that succeeded due to poor intelligence on the part of Clinton's IT people.
