I beg to disagree about LW partisans being "all about science". What they do is politicize science just like Al Gore did.
Usually, they just make things up and depend on their readers' lack of knowledge and/or critical reasoning skills to shape opinion.
But fair's fair. There is also pro-gunner science. Here's a good intro video describing it... https://www.tvguide.com/news/sacha-baron-cohen-watch-who-is-america/
Not another guessing nincompoop. I always vote UK conservative. I wish you would use the brains you were born with. This might shock you, some people on the right think gun safety is important. That is why you're unsafe and reckless.
And you love to slander other people. Gun safety is important. I've taken two formal gun safety courses, as well as extensive teaching by my father. On the gun issue, you act like a lefty. You love to quote lefty articles. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck. I note you chose not to comment on the meat of my post--that the article you posted was almost ten years old, and that based on the geographic area, more than likely the "gun victims" were not innocent gun victims carrying guns, but were gangbangers carrying guns, and were shot in the course of that business.
Talking about their claims, not reality. I love to use science to criticize them. Most have almost no clue about what science means and how to use it.
Your powers of observation do you credit. Do you feel the psychology of people and society has changed in 10 years? I don't think so.
People not so much but society does change. Do you think the US changed much socially from 1995 to 2005?
Yup, society was much calmer and less violent in 2005 than in 1995. The murder rate almost halved between 1995 to 2005.
Geez, I wish you sheeple would get over yourselves. More kids drown in swimming pools than are even injured in gun accidents, and I don't see you wailing about banning pools. Total felgercarb.
There is a saying: "Owning a gun no more means you're armed than owning a piano means you're a musician", and there is a lot of truth to that. People interested in the study of martial philosophy understand that, and train themselves extensively in the appropriate disciplines. The core weapon system is the body itself; everything else is just tools to facilitate the purpose.
I don't either. I train for the express purpose of defending myself and my family should it become necessary. I get up every morning prepared for that possibility.
Not counting incidents related to my time in service as a law enforcement officer? Often enough that I very much believe in the adage of: "I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it."
How many times have you needed a fire extinguisher or a smoke alarm? Me, never, but I still have them (as well as guns). I haven't needed a spare tire in about three cars, but I still have them as well.
I hope you're sitting down, this may shock you. Did you know that, wait for it, any individual in a society would protect themselves and their family from any form of agression!!! Gulp, how amazing is that!! It's just that, some are prepared to shoot 300 bullets in order to do so. In reality though, you have more chance winning the lottery jackpot than having to act the brave John Wayne part. It's likely those buying and arming up on the latest spec gun are just purely compensating. This protection business is a pile of BS. How many enemies do you have? Are you constantly scanning your windows with a loaded gun? What does a protection rifle look like? Do you own a waterproof gun and holster whilst you have a shower? Does your family take sleep turns through the night so you have protection 24/7? Protection = Stupid argument.
Having a fire extinguisher doesn't increase the risk of fire. Having a gun does increase the probability of victimisation (e.g. Branas et al., 2009, Investigating the link between gun possession and gun assault. American Journal of Public Health, 99, 2034–2040).
It's a reclaimed swamp full of alligators, water moccasins and misquotes the size of parakeets. Don't waste your time. Come to the great state of CALIFORNIA...We got it all!!!
The united states is a violent country. For example there is one approximately sexual assault occurring every ninety eight seconds. There are more than one million home invasions every single year, or approximately one every thirty one seconds. The united states is a violent country, and no amount of denial is going to change such. It was pointed out by yourself, that the untied states has more serial killers than any other nation in the world. Telling the people who live there that their concerns for their safety is nothing more than "BS" and a "stupid argument" does nothing but give them reason to ignore whatever may be presented on the part of yourself, as it demonstrates a disregard for what they consider to be serious issues. It is nothing more than telling them that they do not know what they are talking about, in a manner that suggests an air of superiority and elitism far out of touch with reality.
