Do you agree? Is this the new position of the Republican party? Are the US and Russia really two peas in a pod, just like trump and Putin, with no moral or ethical distinctions?
41 views but no votes? All of these alleged patriots around and no one wants to vote that the US is better than Russia? Is this place packed with Russian trolls? Where are all of the pledge-demanding flag wavers who put America first?
51 views and no takes. I think I've hit a nerve. Just another affirmation of what I've been saying all along - the US is under attack. I wouldn't be surprised if half the "trumpers" here are really Russian trolls and puppets.
Could you offer some context to the statement, or is this just going to be a reflection of the left's media partners, where reports contain none?
It should be easy for them. Trump's already saying "Keep America Great," which indicates that he has already single-handedly made it great again.
you'll probably have few takers because this isn't a black and white issue. i know it suits your agenda, but simply saying one is better than the other or they are both the same doesn't address the number of issues to take into account. are they the same? on a number of counts they are. both are massive super-powers whose influence is felt across the globe. both have tried to balance a pragmatic and idealistic view of their role in the world, attempting to shape other nations in their own image. they both have massive economies, based primarily on their own abundant resources, that are difficult to control and diverse populations that seldom see things eye to eye. there are, of course, major differences between the two, but these are rapidly shrinking. the most prominent of them is that russia is coming from a place of stark authoritarianism, placing the needs of the nation above those of the individual. america, on the other hand, has a history of placing individual liberty above the desires of the collective. as the old soviet union has collapsed and the russian people have become disillusioned with the collectivist mentality, the notion of the power of the individual has taken a more prominent place within russia. meanwhile, progressivism in america has morphed into a collectivist monster that threatens the very liberties the nation was based upon. so which is better? at this moment in time i would much rather be here in the u.s., but the here and now is not all there is to a nation. where the russians have already learned many of the hard lessons of socialism, many americans have this idealized vision of a socialist america leading the world into some dystopian global democracy, a hybrid that cannot possibly sustain itself.
I am quoting trump. Didn't you even watch his fiasco yesterday? And I further explained the context that he was drawing a moral and ethical equivalence between Putin's murderous regime, and the US.
67 views and only one other person here besides me thinks the US is better than Russia. THAT explains a lot! So all of these people waving the flag and demanding that NFL players say the pledge, are really fans of Russia, not the US.
I asked for context, not a continuation of a press release from the New Democratic Party. I not only watched every second of the press conference, I back my statements and opinions of it by reviewing the transcripts from it. So, context, or more press releases?
The goals of the two governments are adversarial on many issues. But the hopes and dreams of the people of both nations are probably very much the same.
I like America lots more than Russia.. It's not nearly as cold or as impossibly remote in spots. When they were building the BAM (Baikal Amur Railway) in the 1970''s they ran into tribes asking them how the Tsar was The Black Sea doesn't hold a candle even to the Gulf Coast let alone California. Anyplace where the seafloor has perfectly preserved 4000 year old shipwrecks because there's no oxygen is haunted, not interesting. You think Texas is bad for flat and featureless try going to Siberia. I had a friend who went to Vladivostok on the Tran's Siberian Railway one time. He was looking out the window one evening and fell asleep, when he awoke the next morning he thought the train must have stopped all night, that's how little the scenery had changed, and it was that way for 3 days. (It's more occupied now, I'm told, but still resembling the sparser parts of the American Midwest for about 6000 miles) The famous Alexis de Tocqueville once said rather presciently that he thought there would be two great powers in the 20th century, America and Russia, America would be based upon Freedom, Russia on Subjection......'nuff said.
The U.S. has been becoming more like Russia, in terms of political & judicial corruption and lower living standards. Still not quite at that level though.
